So Early Germans were the quintessential "barbarians" as we currently visualize the term. "Conan the Barbarian" esque.

This is maybe a bit excessive view and this painting is a 1840s representation of Arminius.

Early Germans could have an interesting roster but they also have this issue of very few attested protective equipment. At this time the Germans were economically poor, producing very little things from themselves. There is a bit more warriors burials in the East with the Przeworsk culture and a bit more foreign weapons along the Rhine.

The Germans seem to offset their lack of equipment with their passion for war, their guerrilla tactics and their skill. Although it was not that much effective against the Roman war machine, this was enough to discourage them from conquering their economically uninteresting and difficult to control territories without urban power centers. Too big cost for little gain.

I plan use this reference for the fortress:

Concept art of Suebian fortress, it´s just a pencil sketch of a model for the fortress. It´s not definitive.

@Lion.

For the wonder there is not much material to use. You could use a early iron age burial mound with maybe a small stone circle surrounding it, though it is a bit outdated. Specific name could be Kuningasgrabaz (Royal Grave, i searched early germanic words on wiktionary.)

Here's what the current buildings look. They are taken from Millennium AD, and the Gauls.

Cult Statue taken from the Gauls on the left. Top left is the Civic Center and then there's the Temple next to that. The Gallic dock is next at the top.

Then bottom left you have the 3 houses. IMHO, there should be at least 4 house model variants for good variation. Then on the right there is the (too large) storehouse and the Farmstead Corral.

Here you see the Gallic siege workshop in the upper left. The two smaller buildings next to it is the blacksmith. On the upper right is the barracks. Below the barracks is the Stable, taken from the Xiongnu. In the middle is the market, adapted from a super old version of the Celtic market.

Been researching their ships,  according to Tacitus boats like the Hjorstpring one were still in use by the Suiones centuries after that find.

Quote

the form of their vessels differs from ours in having a prow at each end, so that they are always ready to advance. They make no use of sails, nor have regular benches of oars at the sides: they row, as is practised in some rivers, without order, sometimes on one side, sometimes on the other, as occasion requires

They will probably be a very weak civ navally,  first find of a larger boat is the one bellow from the 4th century  (Based on what i read in previous posts, it seems the civ's timeframe ends after the Marcomannic wars in the late 2nd century).

, Nydamboat.2.jpg

There are a couple accounts of north sea tribes raiding in rivers or by sea but the accounts just mention boats without much specifics.

Some possible names Fiskarijaz Baitaz (Fishing ship)  Kauponabaitaz (Trade ship),  Skipa (Light war ship).

The first post says that units will have tribal names, possible tribes for a warship would be Suardones, Angles and Chauci (Last two are not exactly Suebian but sometimes joined them in wars).
