Blizzard is releasing a remaster of Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos, the company announced during the opening ceremony for this year’s BlizzCon. The game is called Warcraft 3: Reforged, as revealed with both cinematic and gameplay trailers shown during the event.

Reforged will launch in 2019, according to Blizzard, and feature totally remodeled characters and environments. It will also bring back the beloved modding World Editor tool, which has led to other popular games, including League of Legends. There will also be Battle.net functionality to help create custom game lobbies, and a bunch of balance changes.

BlizzCon attendees can play a demo of the game now, as it’s on the showfloor at the convention this year. The demo includes the “Cull of Stratholme” mission, an important moment in the Warcraft 3 storyline.

Pre-orders are live now, including for the Spoils Edition, which unlocks special items in other Blizzard games. One of those is the Meat Wagon mount for World of Warcraft, which should make at least some Warcraft fans happy, if not grossed out.

An HD version of the classic real-time strategy game has been a long-time coming. Rumors have been popping up as recently as this past February.

Launching exclusively on Mac and Windows PC in 2002, Warcraft 3 was a huge hit among fantasy and strategy gaming fans. It’s sold millions of copies in the 15-plus years since its release, but a true follow-up has yet to come.

Instead, Blizzard took much of the Warcraft 3 universe and re-purposed it for World of Warcraft. The move has clearly done well for Blizzard, as WOW remains one of the biggest MMORPGs ever. Characters from it also appear in Blizzard crossover games like Hearthstone.

BlizzCon 2018 runs through the weekend, kicking off today, Nov. 2. Check out more screens from Warcraft 3: Reforged in the gallery below.
