  1. I came across a rather interesting article today:

Humans are undoubtedly the most dominant species the Earth has ever known. In just a few thousand years we have swallowed up more than a third of the planet's land for our cities, farmland and pastures. By some estimates, we now commandeer 40 per cent of all its productivity. And we're leaving quite a mess behind: ploughed-up prairies, razed forests, drained aquifers, nuclear waste, chemical pollution, invasive species, mass extinctions and now the looming spectre of climate change. If they could, the other species we share Earth with would surely vote us off the planet.

  2. I think everything will turn-out well, in the end. I think the global warming is bad and should be prevent for as much as possible. But the climate has always changed and there were much hotter periods in history aswell as colder ones as today or in fifty years. I also doubt it's really (just) CO2 that's causing everything. Nowadays everyone is totally hyped about it, although there are still alot of uncertainties. For instance the sun, we hardly know anything about it and there are quite some people that think the sun is really causing the global warming. And I think that because of the hype around CO2 pollution that part has been left in the dark and is neglected by many. Of course this isn't a good argument to reduce CO2 emmisions, not at all, I totally support it. But I think that we should look at more types of pollution and not just CO2.

  3. I reinstalled WWP again on my computer. (the game is so cool!) However I installed it on Vista and some times the colours are totally messed up and some times they're fine. I was wondering if anyone knows how to fix this since it's rather annoying and ugly. Maybe with some special settings? (I tried 16 bit colours, but that doesn't work)

  4. No Argalian comments?

I could of course complain about the hard shadows, which isn't 100% realistic but doesn't really matter either. Or about the contrast between units/buildings and the background, but you probably won't even notice it when you're zoomed out.

So no, I don't have anything to say. :)

  5. That sounds very good. So if I understand it correctly units/buildings will have 4 textures, one with colours, one with player colour (black and white image I assume) another with transparency and the last a normal map (does 0AD use them or not? Or only in special cases?). Right?

  6. I've a little question, which doesn't require a new thread so I post it here.

I guess player colours are created with alpha maps. But can player colour be used anywhere on the models? Because with AoE3 it's only possible on specific areas on the model which is coded into the model itself. And if it's possible everywhere: how do you combine player colour with transparency?

  7. I started to play M2TW some time ago and to be honoust I mostly play on the campaign map. Although the battles can be nice to watch I think the control of the units is terrible so I'll just let the computer auto-resolve the battle. I've also played EU2 and I must say I kind of miss the large scale in M2TW, but well the games were designed with something completely different in mind so... But the game is nice.

  8. I understand that 0ad will be highly mod friendly.........but i suggest the above because of the fact that if these options are in the original editor it will be easier because a lot of people do not like to install mod stuff

What I understood from previous statements is that mods can be shipped with a scenario. So the mod is incorperated into the scenario and all together it's just one file. So no special installation needed there and you'd still be able to play online.

  9. Haha! Argy, we both know that means you now have a negative outlook on spam. (y) Congrats for making post 2,700, by the way. :P

I used to have 4000+, that was until the post in the Fun & Games forum didn't count towards your post total anymore. But yeah, I don't really like to spam around anymore. I'm working on my own mod project for AoE3 and through that I really got a lot more respect for the WFG team and I understand some of their choices better etc. "Luv ya guys!" :(

  10. The art is really great, as is the screen set-up. However I agree that the ship looks too small compared to the units. It's awesome to have units really on the ships, but if it look like this I'm not sure if it's a good idea. Also can't you lower the ship? It looks like it's flying just above the water.

The water looks really great, I find it as good as AoE3's, maybe even better. I'd love to see a sea with waves next time. :)
