i don't think it would work because even if these students "stopped learning," they would need to intentionally slack off for the rest of their lives for it to be effective. these kids will be able to function perfectly fine in society in years to come even if they stop learning in the middle of college. the country as a whole will get over it and this whole not learning business will come back to bite these students when they are trying to get a job in 10 years.

living on Avalon
the zeppelin song "the battle of evermore" is loaded with references to LOTR and they have a qoute in there abou the "angels of avalon" and i always wondered how they connected to the books...could this be their connection?
also...i can see a bit of tolkien influence in j.k. rowling's harry potter books. in fact, gandalf and dumbledore say almost the exact qoute about death is just another journey for the well organized mind. i think rowling had the LOTR books in mind when she wrote her books.

tratando is used with estar when you want to say you are "doing" something
the ando or iendo is added on to the root of the verb to make the "ing" in english
estoy tratando = i am trying
estamos nadando = we are swimming

some examples are...
dark side of the moon : entire album
abbey road : you never give me your money - her majesty
i can't think of any more right now but you know what i mean, just songs that run into each other that are good more or less

My friend and i were talking at lunch the other day about the Lord of the Rings and he brought up the question, When do elves stop physically aging? We were wondering if they matured like humans up until 20 or so and then looked the same the rest of their life or if they continued to look older and older throughout the years. I'd like to hear what you guys have to say on the matter

I took the PSAT last week sometime and i think i did alright on it. The math portion was really easy on our test, asking only for basic geometry and some more advanced algabreic(sp?) skills but the reading section was challengning in my opinion. The SAT doesn't really matter for me because I plan on going to a Big Ten school(those are 11 of the big universities in midwestern U.S.) so all that i will need is the ACT. :-P

I think a lot of this comes down to the incompetence of the Bush administration. They were one of the first to jump on the boat after the tsunami becuase donating would improve our country's image amid the conflict in Iraq but when their own country is suffering the same way, on a slightly smaller scale they do nothing, no immediate help atleast. Why not help, you ask? Because what benefit is it to them to help out? That's why.
