  1. Been looking at the screenshots and it all looks rather buff! Wow, came across the 0ad forums randomly while searching for pictures of Hoplite armour... good to see some familiar faces are still around here! I think I first started working with 0ad when I was 16 and addicted to Age of Empires, and I'm 21 now!!!! Memories...

  2. ;)

I am really, really sorry I have been inactive (read: "dead") for a g e s. I couldn't help it. I have a hugely busy timetable at college and find it very difficult to fit 0ad time into it. I am really truly sorry, and I can't help but feel guilty for this.

This is why, I believe I should

    a) leave the team [if I'm even still on it !]

or ;) sketch at a really slow pace, until this summer when I can go "boom"

I literally will go "boom", like a bomb of some sort. A bomb which, when it explodes, makes sketches. For 0AD. Good sketches!

I'd prefer b because I have way too hectic a school timetable to really cope with worrying about too many other things. I have too much on my plate. blah blah blah, I'll not bore you with my lil problems. However, this summer my exams will be over and I'll have a summer holiday!!! yayyy

If option b is suggestes I'd like to be given a specific task to work on, e.g. one specific unit. Deciding what to do is also a bit dodgy, since I have a whole civ to do.

    Thanks guys!

This isn't one of my better sketches, but I have been away for a while, eh?

I'd like to know what style of concept art people prefer around here. I'll stick to this style for now but as you may know it isn't my only style. I can adopt almost any style you can think of, and I'd like a little bit of variety. So, which art styles would you prefer for my conccepts? Cel-shaded? Anime? Marvel Comics? Pencil rendering? The style which I used often when I first joined WFG (the whole ballpoint pen, hatching thing - or as Wijit said, "that /// thing you do" :P )

And about the figures which I used - a friend once told me, "Prav, you can't draw anything apart from big muscly blokes and fit women". lol. ;) The people I draw ain't exactly realistically proportioned! They're probably about 8 feet tall, with biceps the size of your mum. If you dislike this exaggerated style and would prefer a more realistic representation of the soldiers (and persian concubines for that matter), as the other sketchers do, please tell me. Any feedback would be appreciated!

This is the elite version of the Bactrian Auxilia. Auxilius? (What is singular and plural here?) :P Anyways, he's all rich and stuff, so he can afford a little bit of armour. I also gave him one of those funky swords. It's based on stuff written in Paul's Shah an Shah article, which was sehr sehr helpful. He has a helmet, but I forgot to give him a tiara. M'oh. :S He looks wayy greek atm.

I hope you like it, looking forward to your feedback! :)

  4. I personally would like big fat massive ships. It would add a sense of "wowww".... as the camera zooms out for a naval battle. And architecture could all be real size as well. It would make the game look monumental, but the units would look pretty tiny. I always hated the ships in AOK which were the same size as 1 knight. That sucked @#$%. And the houses were also as big as one knight. It was very silly. If everything were real size, that would be awesome.

  5. Hi, 0.A.D. team! I'm now able to create concepts again, after some absence due to school, and other things (was in hospital for a while). I see that my name is no longer on the staff list - little bit confused as to whether or not I am still on the team. I've read all of the emails I've been sent and am ready to finish the Persians off.

    So, what's up?
