    Eh, I kinda prefer without the extra contrast. IMO Some details are for when players want to zoom in :)

    I only made 9 textures but they carry over pretty nicely with the square, rectangle, and oval shields. Overall it looks pretty diverse.

    So with the shields done for now, all that remains is armor tweaks on Boiorix and the hero portraits!

    One more thing is, we need a new formation banner texture. It's currently pretty Gothic looking. We could keep this texture and just rename it _goth or whatever, but the standard German banner should be something a lot simpler. I'll see what I can do for that.

    Ok, there we go. We have some for each rank.

    I incorporated an ochre color and yellow/gold for some symbols.

    Other than that its just player color and white.

    These look great. An easy way to make variations is to just invert the white and player color sections. Super easy and creates nice variation. I think this number of variants is pretty good.

    I think these majority white versions should be the champion shields, while we can either invert the colors for majority player color and make those the standard unit shields or make all new mostly-player color variants for the standard units. Either way, these majority white ones would go very well for champs.

    EDIT: nevermind, lol. I didn't see your follow-up ones. They all look very nice indeed.

    It is the problem of adapting ancient civilizations to a medieval AoE II mechanic.

    I don't know why they didn't adapt the Tyrophoros as a spearman line.

    Levy literally. A soldier with a mace.

    Literally the militia line and swordman.

    "It corresponds to the Militia line in Age of Empires II."

    That look already takes away the immersion.

    Yeah, WTH??? If you're going to remodel the unit line anyway, then might as well have remodeled it to something authentic! These are basically fantasy units at this point.

  5. May I request that you use the newer Sahara biome terrains for this? I'd like to eventually deprecate the Desert biome assets at some point (along with mediterranean and some others). It would be great to add these to the game, but I want all new maps to use the newer biomes. :)

    Otherwise, these screenshots look fantastic and good quality.

    Well, I can't do everything at once, but I like the idea.

    It's the bane of being a productive member, lol. Everyone starts to look to you for new things.

    I can only agree. It shows that you don't have to stuff in twenty different buttons and labels to create an appealing page. Would be cool have something similiar for our campaigns.

    Yep, "feature rich" doesn't need to mean a bunch of stuff on screen. Sometimes good aesthetics and good user experience can combine into something "simple, yet effective, and pleasing to the eye" all at once.

    I really like the campaign UI! Very simple, yet effective. I like the map icons "locked" behind chains.

    Another thing I've always liked and wish we could have in 0 A.D. is the "Hints" tab in the "Objectives" screen. It would give more background to the scenario or match you're playing. We can move all of the general map settings information to a new "Settings" tab in the Objectives screen. So, three tabs/screens. Leave the "Objectives" tab for the true objectives of the match.

    okay, but how is it in the screenshot? I didn't find it in DE either. Is there at least some kind of high poly mesh i could take a look at?

    Actually yeah. If you'd be willing to retop it and reduce its triangle count by about half that would be awesome.

    It took me a while to see it, yes. xD

    g_SimState.players[...].phase should be "empire", which should be listed that way in simulation/components/GuiInterface.js' GetSimulationState...

    		if (cmpTechnologyManager)
    		{
    			if (cmpTechnologyManager.IsTechnologyResearched("phase_city"))
    				phase = "city";
    			else if (cmpTechnologyManager.IsTechnologyResearched("phase_town"))
    				phase = "town";
    			else if (cmpTechnologyManager.IsTechnologyResearched("phase_village"))
    				phase = "village";
    		}

    Works. Thank you!

    Thank you. This looks like it'll be the solution.

  11. Could I ask for or suggest an extension?

    It would be nice to be able to have multiple images for a tip. For instance, in a tip about Wonders it would be nice to be able to show nice clear images of a bunch of individual wonders rather than packing a bunch of them into one screenshot. In these minor mockup, you see a little 1/2 or 2/2 with arrows to let you cycle through the images for the tip. We wouldn't do this for every tip, but to have that ability would be very nice.

    BFSAeVO.png

    Would could allow this by letting us use underscores at the end of the image file name. So, wonders_1.png, wonders_2.png, etc.

  12. It would be cool to depict this era for the Romans. I've long maintained that we could have several "Roman" factions and do interesting things with them.

    • Regal Romans
    • Republican Romans
    • Triumvirate Romans
    • Principate Romans
    • Dominate Romans

    You could have a cool Random/Romans group in the civ selection drop down (in match setup) to randomly choose a Roman faction era for you.
