*Sigh...* If anyone ever wondered why there aren't any gals on the team...
-
The Armageddon soundtrack is Trevor Rabin's, I think...
-
He's German, I believe, and was responsible for a host of modern time soundtracks (Thin Red Line (a favorite of mine), Black Hawk Down, Crimson Tide and of course the much debated Gladiator soundtrack.)
Anyway, yeah, get the Cutthroat Island soundtrack. 'Morgans Ride' is worth the cash alone. It mixes the fury of Gladiator with the heroic theme of... something with a heroic theme in it.

I couldn't quite figure out whether this is a contest for this year's movies or movies in general. On one hand, you nominate films like Liar Liar and South Park which are years old, but on the other hand, you can't seriously mean that films like Gothika, Liar Liar, Bad Santa - or even Matrix or LotR - are reasonable nominations in any category at all if we're talking films of all time...!
-
Another thing I've always wondered about - the pronounciation of the letter 'Z'. In America, it's 'zee'. But other people pronounce it 'zet' - would that be in the UK?
-
I'm telling you again, go get "Morgans Ride" from the Cutthroat Island soundtrack if you're into these kinds of epic soundtracks. It has what's gotta be one of the most powerful build-ups for this kind of music.

Hey, I'm (theoretically) a dept. leader (Sound Dept.) - so my name should be red, right?
-
Here's a tip from a hardcore soundtrack collector
If you like powerful, heroic, orchestral music that'll make your blood run, go find the track 'Morgans Ride' from the soundtrack to Cutthroat Island. The movie sucked, but this is good stuff

Dude, the Earth isn't round..

And the best tip of all - don't assume that girls are so stereotyped or generalized that any particular 'trick' will work on them ...
-
Saying that someone can't vote 1 because he knows nothing about the game is the same as saying that none of these votes have any meaning at all - which I agree with. The poll is for fun and can't reveal anything valuable - so let it slide if someone votes below average.

What noise annoys an oyster?
-
No, but have you heard those critters when they're angry / fighting?
-
Good job - your turn.
-
It's your little cat.
-
Nope, sorry. It's more mainstream, although maybe 10 years old...

Being in co-charge of the Music Appreciation Society around here, and seeing how much you like games, I invite you to a round of lyrics guessing. I'll post a line of lyrics. The first one to guess the song title (with bonus points for band name) gets to post the next line - but only after getting the guess confirmed by the poster of the lyrics.
All right. Let's start out easy for warm-up:
"You wanna hear about my new obsession? / I'm riding high upon a deep depression."

Seeya on the other side..

Seems to me that the major thing to do about the website is some structuring of all the data. There are 29 menu items right now - surely we can cut down on those? The routine of updating regularly works neatly, though.
-
All I see you crossing here is the fine line between sanity and obsession.
-
There's a somewhat technical explanation for that - it has to do with the mp3 format adding a tiny, tiny bit of silence to a track when you encode it - so you can't loop it now without having a small gap - but when the music is implemented, it will use the .ogg format, so it shouldn't be a problem.
. . if that's what you meant

Last we heard from our intrepid musician, he was preparing to travel to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; quite a daunting task for a European. Well, he's all happy and settled, but without Internet.
Well, I've managed to find an Internet cafe now, and look at you! You've made a lot of progress since I left. So many new members. And this forum rocks - how do I get '0 A.D. Soundtrack Composer' as my title?
Ah well, I'll contribute with the newest mp3 tomorrow or the day after that, just to prove that I have actually doing something out of the swimming pool. Stay alert..
PS. They have cool license plates down here - one of the first days I saw a "WFG 6114". I hope it isn't a portent of when 0 A.D. will be finished..
I'll return shortly.

Well, I don't know about the VIP's, but at least not on the dev team, I believe.
