  1. Maybe my graphics are the problem (I dont have a dedicated video card).

If no one else get confused, I dont want to insist.

And please, no blood needed. But if you are going to add it, a least add a blood enable/disable option too.

Please take into consideration that not all of us get excited about blood and gore in videogames.

yeah... i agree with you that blood should be an option

  2. Historicbruno has mainly been reviewing and implementing patches, submitted by other contributors like F00/Deiz, who personally whips programmers to greater productivity! This week saw the implementation of 'always visible hero selection rings'. This screenshot will explain.

great idea this weekly report

the link to the screenshot is not accessible

  3. I have no problem with that as an extension, as long as our latest-greatest mockup is the default view ;) Some applications and even games have multiple UI modes like basic/advanced, I imagine a basic mode is closer to the latest mockup with less information seen, it's better for noobs and those who like clean minimal layouts. Advanced mode could be packed with stats, either a completely different UI design or several slide-out panels, toggled by a hotkey and as a permanent config option.

    it would be cool (y)

  4. about the showing stats yes/no discussion: it's a matter of fact that unit panel can't host all infos about the unit(s), because the space is limited.

So, basically units has two tasks: build or fight.

At the beginning the build task is the most important, but after the first 5/10 minutes (depends from player style and map), the importance of the fight task grow rapidly and became the principal.

In a game, how many buildings do you build? 20/30? and probably more than half in the first 10 minutes. So, why show a large panel with buildings when after 10/15 minutes it becomes less important?

So here is my idea: a hotkey and/or a button to quickly switch between the current buildings panel and a new extended info panel about the unit(s), where you have the space to put not only attack/armor stats, but also all the others: speed, accuracy, visibility, etc

    What do you think?

  5. Ugh, no. That means in wide screen layouts you're constantly moving from the far left to the far right sides, with your eyes to see what you selected and with the mouse. If we want to use corners, related controls should be on one side or the other. But personally I would rather focus on the center layout for now, and once it's solidified, consider the corner layouts as options.

yeah, but many wide screen notebooks have a resolution of 1366x768, and having the GUI on the corners leaves free more space on the center for the field view, that is the more important, from my point of view :)

So, i agree to split the GUI on the corners

    How about something like this?

    W3G0t.jpg

The carried resource icon overlaps the unit portrait, I don't see much problems with having it there, so correct me if I'm wrong :)

I just played around with the stats area, instead of text we can use icons and hence save some more space. Of course we'll need to make some optimized icons for the resolution ;)

Another thing I did, just to beautify the area was add the civ specific emblem or shield. This would change to the respective civ of the selected unit. How feasible is that?

why don't try to reduce health and stamina bars?

  6. The unit panel is getting too crowded now! What about moving the "Action buttons" to the right area (construction panel), maybe with a different heading implying they are different from the construction icons.

That would really give breathing space for the central unit panel :yes3:

i agree that unit panel is too crowded!

i think that formations and attitudes occupy too much space: only active formation and attitude should be showed, in form of buttons that, when clicked, could be show alternative formations or attitudes. So you could have more space for unit panel

  7. Excellent post apocalypse game! I love the massive tech tree ^^

A much simpler fantasy RTS game would be Glest.

Both are 3D so I'm not sure if they work for you.

ops... i missed that he wants isometric games :kid:

btw, MegaGlest is actively developed, Glest not anymore :wink2:

  8. Have you seen any professional StarCraft player playing with his/her own keyboard+mouse and all binds? Probably not otherwise you won't be stating that. Trust me, if you train hard enough you can do multiple things at the same time and as Mythos said AI is limited. For example I play this game since Alpha VIII and now I can win against 3 qBots but I don't consider myself experienced RTS player. You just need to be fast, that's all ;)

    :lol2:

  9. THE license is open source, right!? You can do whatever you want! In'oltre are not many who have a powerful processor or graphics sheda high quality! I'm not asking the world! in'oltre I keep saying that to add new units / buildings is better than the isometric 3D!

the license is open source so YOU ARE FREE to change the code to run isometric graphic

you speak Italian? Well what if you do isometric many more people will be able to play and that will also be easier to correct and edit! because one thing is to insert a 3D thing that only people with great graphical abilities can do as an isometric is already easier, same for buildings and other things, like fighting! in short, the game would become much lighter and playable (even those not super powerful computers!) You're playing many of you? 20-30? can also be 200 or 300 but I prerirei that play is the majority of the globe and not a small group with powerful computers!

vlad, i've told you to run the profiler to check if the lag is raised by graphical complexity
