SoundFX : Missing Sounds

This thread is to keep track of the Art Sound tasks that needs to be done and who is working on which one. Keep it clean, post only when you are going to start a task and when it has been finished and approved or committed by someone of the team.
- Do not post suggestions. Create a new topic or use any suggestion thread.
- Do not post Wips. Create a ===[TASK]===[SOUND]=== thread on the Art forum for this matter.
- Do not post references. Use the relevant task thread.
- LEGAL WAIVER: Please read this before contributing and abide by it.

*We can't assure that your models will be used for the final game, and we're also looking for a certain quality level, don't get upset if your model doesn't make it into the game, practice is the best way to improve.

Here is an incomplete and maybe outdated sound list we need.

  • lost / defeat sorrow.

  • polar sounds
  • fishing sounds
  • foraging sounds
  • city sounds
  • wonder started
  • wonder finished
  • technology researched
  • "Not enough resources" sound when trying to train/build something.
  • Sound for minimap flares (flares not implemented yet
  • Mine depleted" sound.
  • Healing unit" sound.
  • Animal captured"/"unit converted" sound
  • Hero unit trained" / "Hero unit death" sounds
  • Battle noise sounds" <--- This could make a great addition to mid/big fights (people shouts, swords/armor hit sounds)
  • More (and better) unit death sounds
  • Diplomacy : Sound for diplomatic changes and tributes received
  • Trading rout complete.(more soft or may bediscrete)
  • Notification sound for resigned/defeated player
  • Sound for chat messages (I miss chat messages while in-game often)
  • Error sound for trying to build where is not allowed -- "Ang!" type of sound or something.
  • Gate lock/unlock (I think they're already in-game?)
  • Animal deaths / sounds (a lot of them are currently missing)
  • "Hero unit trained" / "Hero unit death" sounds
  • Animal captured
  • Building captured
  • Building lost by capture
  • Ally message sound
  • Siege Workshop select and finish

  • Improve existent sounds like alarms and give variety to them (little edition).
  • Take my time to get adequate(better or more fidelity to my ideas)  sounds and experiment with the creativity or some method by movie/film industry.(or gaming but... this is relative)
  • Make new alarms for me is priority. it better have diversity like other RTS.
  • Make melee sound improvements... isn't hard.
  • Discuss how improve and show proposal comparing between other games like AoE or Total war.
  • Have music perspective ( Omri ).
  • Playtesting with mods like Delenda Est or Terra Magna. is easy to me see other necessity thinking in possible alternatives to vanilla. @wowgetoffyourcellphone is one best guys to have feedbacks, but if isn't possible.
  • Find new techniques or try reverse engineering.
  • I can have access to make Foley but can be nice have some assistance and help by others volunteers.

  • Ogg and WAV.

 

Now the really missing sounds are alarms, like under attack their variants, battle sounds but this is only longer(foley) not technically difficult.

You can help and we are two guys the musician and me (audio editor) but I'm more 2D visual  artist.

are mono files preferred?

should i start a new thread somewhere to post soundfx contributions?  (i can start with battle sounds as Lion.Kanzen suggested)

 

With sounds specially not related to Alerts or GUI.

We haven't variety mostly are treble have higher frequency, specially combat and metal sounds.(compare with AoE DE).

We lack of combat bass kind. this monotony breaks our visual immersion, we need authentic like. listen  archer firing and you can realize  the difference .

Studying other games like AoE series or strategy, even some series like Rome( HBO - 2005).

Have you downloaded the development version yet ?

i have not, i wasn't familiar with that.  is there a better place i should be dumping sounds?  i have very limited time, but was just hoping to contribute in a small way if possible.
