Edit: solved, I got it working. Not sure how to mark the thread as solved.

Hello! I just installed the game through the Debian Sid repositories, which say it's version 0.21-2. When I try running 0ad or pyrogenesis, it prints some normal looking output:

and in top I see pyrogenesis taking up about 5% of the CPU. The screen flickers for a moment, but nothing is displayed. If I switch to an empty workspace I see a black screen instead of my usual background. I'm using ratpoison as my window manager, so that's probably why it's not popping up in the right place, but it doesn't explain why I just get a black screen.

My CPU is a dual core running at 1.3 ghz, and my graphics chip is a Radeon HD 6290 with 384 MB of vram according to radeontop. My resolution is set to 1366x768. I'm using the xserver-xorg-video-radeon drivers.

Edit: I should also mention that firmware-linux-nonfree, libgl1-mesa-dri, xserver-xorg-video-ati, are installed, and that other games seem to be working ok. Pioneer runs fine, and it has a fair amount of fancy 3d stuff. So my graphics card/drivers seem to be in working order.

Another edit: Opening in windowed mode gets me a little bit further. Music now plays, and there's a bit more ouput in the terminal:

TIMER| RunHardwareDetection: 134.349 ms

Any thoughts? And thanks in advance!
