Crash Report

Recommended Posts

I haven't had the chance to play it yet since the crash happens when I try open the game. My first install came from the Software ppa. Next, I uninstalled it and tried the deb files. Same result. Now, I'm just lost.

I believe this comes from the hardware detection that fails on your CPU (it is really strange it does though).

As a workaround, you can try to modify user.cfg under ~/.config/0ad/ and set

userreport.enabledversion = "0"

Does that help?

@Itms It's the default setting.

@GunChleoc I want to know how dbg works. This is what I did:
1. Run Terminal and put: dbg pyrogenesis
2. Then typed: run
Did I do it right?

Here's another thing. I clicked the "Continue" Button on the crash box, and the game runs fine, except that it doesn't seem to save my settings (Can't go fullscreen mode).
I'm trying to find out whether I borked my own system, or am encountering a special-case bug. In any case, I'll help in the backtracking as much as I can.

You mean 'gdb'? When the crash happens, inside gdb, type 'bt' to have a backtrace and post it here. But I don't think that will give us more information than just the fact that there is something strange with your CPU.

Isn't it caused by some manipulation you did when I suggested touching some settings?

I think I need to know what step I'm doing wrong. Here's what I did:

  1. Run Terminal
  2. Type 'gdb pyrogenesis'
  3. Then typed 'run'
  4. Crash happens
  5. Is this where I'm supposed to type 'bt' in the gdb terminal?

I don't think so. Since the value of 'userreport.enabledversion' is already '0', I didn't have to modify anything.

I'm using Noveau. Could that be another factor?

Out of my unit - I'll try to post the result tomorrow.

In any case, I'm getting more convinced that this is caused by what I did to my system, and not the game's fault.

Eh, too much for my little mind can handle at this point. Sorry to trouble you this far only to get my limitations in the way.

I'm planning on doing a flat install when Mint 18.1 comes out. I'll see if this issue comes up again. Until then, thanks for all the help!

It's strange, as it seems the cpu detection detects you have a CPU with Hyper-Threading, although your cpu doesn't.

It would be interesting to see what cpuid would report regarding hyperthreading support and number of cores.

I  get the exact same assertion fail. Only occurred after I upgraded to version 21, 20 worked perfectly. Like Sphyrth I can 'continue' and the game will run, but I lost my vertical mousepad scroll, left and right works fine, but have to use arrow keys for up/down.

Processor is Intel Core 2 Duo - CPU TS750 @ 2.00 Ghz x 2 which apparently does not support hyperthreading.

Same problem here. The game doesn't trap the cursor in its Window.

I just forced myself to learn to play with the WASD keys (I need the Q and E Rotation keys, so I don't play with the arrow keys).

not much of an option for me, I will have to remove 21 and go back to 20.  I did notice a few things different, I could still see the top 'file status' bar from Ubuntu while the game was playing, and all my quikstart icons were listed across the bottom. I do not remember seeing these in version 20. Maybe I had a full screen enabled, not sure, but if I move the 'mouse' to a certain exact line at the game edge (top) It will scroll up, but only at one tiny spot, same with the bottom. Right at my app icons , at the very top line and below the game window, there is one slim space where it will scroll down.

OK, daughter came over to play against me last night, her laptop showed the same issue. Hers is a big gaming laptop with windows 10 , she regularly plays WOW and other RPGs like Skyrim, so I am thinking not so much a hardware issue. I would like to try Itms solution, "

As a workaround, you can try to modify user.cfg under ~/.config/0ad/ and set

userreport.enabledversion = "0"

but I did not see that line in the config file. Should I add it? the instructions there were unclear.

Again, version 20 worked flawlessly, but 21 shows these issues.
