Name:

Camber Menschel.

Email:

camberme@comcast.net or camberfire@gmail.com

MSN Messenger:

camberfire@live.com

Location:

Sacramento, California, (gmt-8)

Availability:

from now until august I have no school, my time is free, so easily 40+ hours if needed. IN august school starts, so 20-40

Age:

32

Occupation:

Father, student with cooking, computer networking, and programming theory, soon computer a/v next semester

Skills and Experience:

When battlefield 3 launched I entered a few competitions for a free copy, while I didn't win any of them, I was quite proud of the work I did. I have also created video's for the game wurmonline, and some for starwars the old republic. I love to mix various forms of media together, from audio to visual, and take various cut scenes from different ideas and find a way to mesh them together

Motivation:

My motivation for excellence is the fact that my children will grow up seeing things I like to do. Their future depends on what is left behind for them.

Personality:

I was raised to excel at what I put my mind into, I have role-played and dungeon mastered since I was 12 and have a different way of looking at various things.

Short Essay:

My wife was playing wurm and heard about the game 0AD. I looked it up and instantly feel in love, ever since my first few experiences with command and conquer for the nes, (since then played up through almost all computer versions) I was in love with real time strategy games. I desire to join the team to showcase the aspects of the game that not only I enjoybut others I know do also.. Also I would like to start a portfolio of video's showcasing work, and the time it took me to finish a project, working for a real company, not just my self. In the future I hope to aspire to freelance video editing, and maybe work on something professionally, for real with a paycheck and everything.

Interests and Hobbies:

In my spare time I take care of my two children 5 year old Alexander and 3 year old Joshua, both my boys are wonderful, and they love to play video-games also. (currently able to beat various levels of Super Mario 3d Land) When I am not with them, I am either playing/ testing Salem, or Playing Wurm, I also like to play/ read dungeon and dragon's stories. When mechwarrior online goes live, I will be spending some time playing that. I am the cook for my family, so some of my time is spent there also.

Staff:

A friend of my wife's from Wurm, his wurm name is Maxxmann (my wife is known mostly as Jesslynn, but she has a few alts)

Community:

Mechwarrior online, Salem, Lolcats, facebook

Favorite Game:

Salem, while it's still in beta, it's the main focus, I am waiting for Assassins creed 3 for xbox 360. Over all I still have maps of Everquest in my head, I can tell somebody how to get from Ak'anon to Qeynos by foot (old school). It shaped my life.

Work Examples:

Due to a personal issue, my past work that was saved on youtube has been deleted, along with all my data files, so there is no past work, but if there are any clips of something I can build a video using cyberlink power director 9, and have it uploaded to my new youtube video account asap.

Hi Camber, I really enjoyed reading your application. You seem to be a very determined, caring person and I think you would make an asset to the team. (y)

For videos, we had several ideas.

Over time, we might be needing:

  • an intro scene for 0 A.D. (long-term goal),
  • a general promotional trailer about the basic features of the game (long-term goal),
  • an ad targeted to OS developers to join the project (short-term goal, discussed in this thread, Here's the post with the last version of the script. We had voice-overs but they seem to be lost.)
  • and videos that document the development as new releases come out, perhaps explaining how certain parts of the game mechanics work, like the Wolfire Games YouTube channel (definitely short-term goal).

I had an idea for a video from the last category. Recently we have had some awesome progress in the graphics area, documented in this thread. I was wondering if you could do a short (30 second) video about some of the changes with before/after shots.

Can you get 0 A.D. running on your machine with all the extra bells and whistles contributed by myconid, wraithii etc.? If you are running into issues, try our documentation on Trac, the IRC channel (#0ad-dev) or just post in this thread and someone more technical than me will surely help you.

I am here (and so is the rest of the community) for help writing the script, designing scenes etc. (Once we tried to crowdsource this effort, but with no success.)

I am looking forward to your contributions!
