I had the same problem! I just uninstalled and looked for any residual game. Especially I think a folder in AppData was what caused the problem. Look in your system for the game folders, because the one I found in AppData I had a file called pyrogenesis.exe which when I checked the task manager, was active. Just in case, I also ran the installer as administrator. After all that, it worked.
