  1. So here's the only most taxing thing I will do to my computer: Watching a typical 4v4 0 A.D. Replay + SimpleScreenRecorder As of the moment, my machine struggles with 1v1 max pop.
  2. Looking at the situation, I'm still 2-4 years off to get decent specs. I realized that my budget is sitting around the equivalent of $250... nowhere near your marks. If ever I get my i5 machine, can I still use my current GPU, or does that thing need to be replaced as well?
  3. Not gonna lie @gabbysouthworth. That was harsh, but it completely drove the point. So it ended up funnier than mean.
  4. Judging from your comments, my planned machine will be impractical for me. Any suggestions?
  5. Sorry @Stan`. I'm so used to seeing you so involved with the assets I forgot you're also a programmer.
  6. By January I am hoping to budget my way towards an Intel NUC Kit. But before I do that I need to know whether the upgrade is worth it, or the difference between my current machine and that NUC is too negligible that I should save up more for a more powerful machine. Current Specs: Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E655 @ 2.33 GHz Memory: 3.9 Gib (I'm stuck with this because for some reason the hardware won't let me install 64-bit OSes) Graphics Card: NVidia Corporation G92 [GeForce GTS 250] Future Specs (Intel NUC 7PJYH): Processor: Intel Pentium Silver J5005 1.5GHz~2.8GHz Quad-Core Relevant Cards: Intel HD Graphics 605 and HD Audio Memory: (I can decide now) BTW I initially planned to upgrade my Graphics Card only. But then I realized that my video editing would still suffer from that 32-bit problem. So, I decided to buy a new machine instead. So, what do you guys think? Is it good enough, or should I get another processor type? (I also need a machine that safely supports Linux)
  7. @Lion.Kanzen You know who to call. Bug Report: Disappearing Flags on Garrisoned Towers (Both Sentry and Town) 1st Instance - Flags disappear over time. 2nd Instance - Flags don't show at all.
  8. I'm specifically referring to play0ad.com's Game Info. The most glaring one will be the Factions section. There's even a Disclaimer for Being Outdated in there. I believe that this page is very fancy... not contemporary, but still fancy (and I would argue that it's still modern).
  9. You're the devs and you get to decide. Personally, though, I prefer that 0 A.D. stay out of Steam if it has to sacrifice its Open-Source Licenses.
  10. You're not alone with that evaluation. Majority of the comments in the video pointed out that "It's just a bunch of bad AoE copies.". This means that they wouldn't bother checking 0 A.D. out since it's lumped together with those games.
  11. The guidebook will be relatively obsolete depending on how fast Alphas show up. For now, it's a good time to be a little more extensive with the book since the official Alpha releases are more of a standstill (compared to the more active SVN). I might even consider @Syn's project to be Wiki-worthy. And besides, the 0 A.D.'s Main Website hasn't been updated, say, since Alpha 16 or 18. Parts of the guidebook have a high value of being ported there.
  12. That "Why Not Steam?" slide. Except for the Bad Publicity, I think the other Cons are more of Blockers. I mean, even if the game was released, would you guys be willing enough to use their tools... and have some licensing issues to boot?
  13. I kinda disagree with the "attacked by <insert attacker>" part. I just favor the more generic "<Structure / Units> are being attacked." However, if I would promote some variation, it would be some panic screams of: "Oikos! Oikos!", "Agora! Agora!" "Strategion!"... I don't know about modern Greek grammar (let alone the older Greek) to make up complete sentences, but that's impractical given the fact that Gameplay is strictly English-dependent.
  14. This seems to be the 2nd time attaching files didn't work for you.
  15. I vote for TubBells 3 and 4. One the Battle Sounds, +1 for the Ibex Horns.
  16. Which reminds me: I think the Civic Center Bell's volume should be turned down a little.
  17. I saw the Battle sounds in the current svn. Improvements are still needed. I still hear them as spoons and forks clanging together. However, I like the Explosion Sounds caused by the Siege Catapults. When those rocks fall, those sounds made me feel the impact. It's great for the user experience. The Alarm Sounds? I think they should be split to another thread. But I'll say that I agree with wow. Red Alert 2 has a generic alarm sound with a little sprite animation on the minimap. It also has a generic script of what is being attacked: "Our miner is under attack." "Our base is under attack." "Our unit is under attack". 0 A.D. both has the sound, and a little map warning of where the attack is taking place, but IMO the sound is too generic for it. Sometimes the slow transition (Peaceful Music to Battle Music) also gets in the way of that warning... which is maybe the the cause of happyconcept's complaint.
  18. When I first saw this, I thought: "It's sooo one-sided." Then I realized that you're dealing with a full Britons team.
  19. Those things stated might relate to 1v1, especially about Rushing and Exploiting Weaknesses. If the Rush is too strong and / or the Weakness is too prominent, then the only problem is balance.
  20. Not necessarily. Those archers were also slow-moving, so bringing them back won't address the complaint about Walking Speed. The usual strategy for Wood-gathering is to simply use Women anyway. Their numbers make up for the difference in gathering speed. The main thing I'm gonna agree is that the Ptolemies shouldn't be limited to a single strat... and Rushing is the only practical strat for them.
  21. When it comes to Macedonia, I think their roster is currently in the works. Here's what I read about the Ptolemy arguments: Pikemen are turtle-slow, and therefore lag Economy. Training Mercs cost resources that cost unnecessary strain for the players. From #1 & #2, you are forced to use women and are therefore vulnerable against Rushes. Pikemen are weak against combat (Rushes). Points of Disagreements: Ptolemies are a Rush Faction; you don't defend against Rushes, you create them. (Maybe you're arguing that it's the only practical strat for them, all other strats won't work). Houses, Storehouses, and Farmstead don't cost anything (only the long build time). So when it comes to Economy, Food-gathering is your "only" problem. Pikemen are your meatshields. They assist in the attack, not really meant for defense.
  22. Whatever the case, we players rather not compute that much.
  23. lol @Lion.Kanzen . I didn't know you were an AoE-hater just because you recognize its flaws.
