  1. Or something where grouped unit's all move at the same speed as if in formation as they travel. Otherwise end up with cav arriving years before infantry. Spreading out of troops can be an issue. Getting your entire army destroyed while traveling from a to b because they're in a long line is frustrating. Perhaps something that determines how far away from the centre of the group soldiers can move, adjustable in game.
  2. Sorry if this has been asked before but I think the guard function or something like it needs to be expanded. It should be possible to have one group guard another. E.g 10 melee cav guarding 20 archers without running off to fight or staying in place when the archers move. Keeping them together can be an issue. Grouping them together doesn't really solve the problem as they still end up separated in battle.
  3. Thanks everyone. I don't think there should be a tech to reveal all enemy troops though. Its not hard to get a large amount of metal and it would defeat the purpose of scouting. Simple something where The ai gives up if it only has a few troops at end game would suffice for a bit while we wait.
  4. Yea. Very impressed by it so far. Hope some kind of solid combat comes out in a 18. I would love to see more techs as well! Kinda holding off learning the relative strengths and weaknesses of troops as will change in a 18 I think.
  5. Hi, just want to know if the AI will eventually resign before it has every last one of its soldiers/citizens. It gets a little frustrating searching for 5 mins of a big map for a tiny red dot, a single villager standing next to a tree. Perhaps something which measures total income over 1 min and if there is a drop of over 75% during the past x mins resign? Think this should definitely be done sometime. Sorry about grammar, typing from my phone.

  8. I'd like to try this. I'm sure the team has good reasons for not having many technology's yet as they are working on combat by the looks if it but still would be nice to see more. A 4th stage is an interesting concept.

  10. Basically I'm interested in gameplay, not graphics although those are great, but in combat, economics, etc. What does it do better than games such as a.o.e 2? I understand this is heavily based on realism which I appreciate but am looking for things beyond that. Fantastic work so far BTW its great to see how an open source, free game can be so in depth and playable.

  12. For some reason a while ago i got the dev version of 0ad on Ubuntu but now i would like to revert to the stable release. I have tried re-installing and removing any packages i could find through my home folder but whenever i reinstall it still reads alpha 18 dev.

  14. Also it seems whenever I go into battle it kinda turns into a mess of troops fighting with no way to command after that. Retreating results in lost troops (for obvious reasons) so how can I control a battle once its started?
  15. Hi, I have played this game for a while and have good economy tactics, however the use of different troops and their deployment on the battle field is still a little obscure to me. Does it matter if you have your horsemen at the front, side etc or where your infantry go in relation to the archers? Do the types of troops fighting each other matter and if so how do I control them properly, can I select a group of them and band it together? Ie 30 infantry in a formation etc
