  1. In the interest of transparency, the Wildfire Games team would like to report on the finances of the project as of 2013-09-04. 0 A.D. has funds in three places: (1) Funds earmarked for the project and held in trust by US-based non-profit organization Software in the Public Interest, Inc. (hereafter “SPI”); (2) A private account in the US, under the name of former project leader, Jason Bishop (Wijitmaker). This account is a legacy of the time before we became affiliated with SPI; (3) Flattr, a Sweden-based microdonation provider. SPI Earmark for 0 A.D. As of 2013-07-10, 0 A.D. has an earmark of USD 5743.51. The bulk of that (USD 4,140) comes from funds raised in two Pledgie fundraising drives in 2010-2012, which were only partially used (Links to fundraisers: #1, #2). The rest of the sum comes from other small donations, collected without any fundraiser. On 2013-08-09, the 0 A.D. treasury committee and an SPI board member approved an agreement with contractor Jorma Rebane (RedFox) that will cost a total of USD 3,310, or approximately 80% of the Pledgie funds. Under the agreement, Jorma is set to perform the following duties: To enhance the memory performance and allocation of the game, its GUI rendering and implementation, and add a new efficient and feature-rich text rendering module. To overview implementation of code architecture and design decisions, while also consulting other developers. To review patches submitted by other developers. To assist the programming team in efficient task management. To publicly report on his activities to the team and the fans no less than twice per week, with the intent of encouraging public interest in and engagement with the game, as well as inviting new contributions from the FOSS community. You can follow up on Jorma’s contributions on the forums. Here is his activity status report for August 2013. So far he has worked on several performance improvements to the game, that will be readily apparent in alpha version 15. Other Accounts & Total In our “legacy” US bank account, we have USD 130.05. On Flattr, we have EUR 276.06 available, which are approximately USD 363.87. In total, at the end of Jorma’s contract, and assuming no more revenue, we will have USD 2927.43. This sum would allow us to keep contracting out work at the current spending level for just 9 more weeks. Concluding Remarks A monthly report of funds held by SPI in trust for 0 A.D. is also available on the SPI website under “approved minutes of past meetings“. The 0 A.D. project finances are managed by the Treasury Committee: Erik (“feneur”), Kieran (“k776″) and Aviv (“Jeru”). We welcome your comments in this thread and elsewhere on the forums. Thanks to all our donors. Stay tuned for the release of 0 A.D. Alpha 14 and the announcement of our biggest fundraiser ever.
  2. Posted the Financial Report for September 2013.
  3. Jason writes we have $130.05 in the "PayPal account".
  4. I would like to put up a periodic 0 A.D. Financial Report on the website. So far I have this: How much money do we have in the private bank account? Do we have any money anywhere else? (E.g. flattr?) How much?
  5. You are welcome to provide information, references etc. Please back up everything with credible sources, and be sure to get help in writing in a relatively high register of English (we want expository writing in this style). At this point we cannot offer you team membership, but if you show good contributions over time, it will definitely be an option.
  6. Hi Heinrich. What sort of things would you like to research and write about? Can you provide examples of previous work?
  7. While we're at it, the diplomacy screens (both the old and the new) need to be improved in terms of their usability. It isn't clear what "Theirs" means, nor "A", "N", "E".
  8. Please go ahead, these initiatives are very welcome.
  9. Kieran, this is the part where you review the contract and approve it (or reject it, or offer changes). I am waiting for your approval to disburse the funds. Thanks.
  10. As you can read, I incorporated the main points of what we expect Jorma to do. I am guessing they will have him sign a contract with SPI, which will include that info verbatim. They need it to legally ensure (and to be able to convince anyone who asks) that the money is really being used for the purposes SPI was established for. That contract would be the document the US tax authorities would be looking at, and that is what SPI is most concerned about. They didn't ask for our entire contract with Jorma. I guess the nitty-gritty details of our arrangements with Jorma (e.g. how many hours he'd be working, would he be available on IRC etc.) are secondary in importance as far as SPI is concerned.
  11. Yeah, no worries, I provided them with that and all the other details they needed. Now we're just waiting for Kieran.
  12. The screenshots are beautiful, but please, if you could focus more on producing screenshots from the player's usual POV. Thanks.
  13. It will also cost about 58% of our total funds ($5743.51).
  14. Do we have the consent of the committee to the terms of post #19, except that instead of 10 payments of $320 we'll pay 5 payments of $640, plus 5 times $22 for wire tranfers? This agreement will cost a total of $3,310, or approximately 80%of the $4,140 of Pledgie funds (Source 1, Source 2). Thanks.
  15. The fans are going wild with the first screenshot, I'll wait a day or two and distribute the second one.
  16. I am willing to relax that to a once or twice a week.
  17. I think it's okay but I would want some accountability worked into this contract, such as with a plan for progress reports. As of April 2013, we have $5,650, of which $4,140 is set aside to whatever was promised to Pledgie donors (Source 1, Source 2). It is really important to show that we are putting existing money to good use before we ask for more.
  18. I am the liaison to SPI, I can forward specific requests but I have very little technical knowledge so I will need help phrasing them. We also pay for hosting already so maybe we can use our existing server.
  19. I was thinking of publicizing that we were looking for a replacement, but I changed my mind, I wouldn't want a random person who's not a longstanding member of the community to take over anyway. Let me know if I need to announce a cancellation.
  20. Thanks so much for your kind words, Jodupher. What instruments do you play?
