    Is it a feature to capture animals/enemy units?
  2. I've found that clicking on a unit multiple times and having him/her change voices each time breaks the illusion of the game. Would it be possible/easy to assign only one audio file per unit? I think it would help with the realism. Thanks.

    This is something that 0ad will always have over proprietary games I think. The endless variety that will come from contributions over time. I love just wandering through the map, taking in the scenery. This game is something special.

    Alpha 19, AI not working [ubuntu]

    Ok I finally did it. I remove ALL the files manually, apt-get removed the package, and purged again, then apt-get auto-remove. Now it has reinstalled and is working without errors!!!! There should probably be a way to catch errors like this in the future. Has anyone else had problems upgrading after creating a mod folder? Anyway, looking forward to playing this again!!

    I deleted everything to do with 0ad, removed the package and even purged!! And I get the same error with permissions. This is silly. Now I can't even reinstall it on my system. How is it that I can't remove this program and install it again? Any help would be much appreciated because I'm not going to reinstall linux to get it to work o_O How can a working version of the game be scrapped by installing the upgrade? I hope this doesn't happen in future versions. I just want to play

    I did have old files in the mod folder. Strange that purge doesnt remove them. anyway, now I've got another problem. I get a popup when trying to launch the game (doesnt load anymore). Now I get an 'Insufficient access rights to open file' message from pyrogenesis. Strange that the upgrade doesn't handle something like a mod folder from an older version :/

    Ok, I can't find the commands.txt in the page you linked to. I deleted all the dot folders in my home user, purged my copy and installed again, and I still have the same problem. Can you tell me more about that commands.txt file? Any other ideas?

  15. Bonjour Karamel, I share your views on the game and have thought about doing the same in my area. I haven't taken action yet, but it's inspiring to see others who are doing it. I've come to discover 0ad because I've switched to free software almost exclusively for over ten years now. I come from an art background and dream of learning how to rig and animate the units someday. For now I'm mostly learning to play. What is the ctrl attack btw? It's the first time that I've heard the term. I used to play battle for Wesnoth years ago and even drew a handful of sprites (none were officially used, but I had fun creating them). Keep us posted, I think that community is an essential part of free software movement.

    A Bridge Too Far?

    I love where this thread is headed. Bridges and roads could be a benefit to traders, and help mobilize armies faster. I keep thinking it would be great eye candy to allow units to leave footprints that could turn into nature paths and betray the comings and goings of the enemy. Although I fear this might hinder performance.

  19. Ubuntu 14.04 I also compiled it to use multiple cores, perhaps the precompiled package is limited in that sense? The lag in multiplayer game has got to be the biggest 'bug' in the game right now IMO. A question on multiplayer mode, is it possible to notify the other players when one hits the pause button? This is just infuriating when you think it's lagging then you learn someone hit pause, went afk and didn't think to mention it.
  20. I don't know if I'm the only one who has this issue but... I'm running A18 on Linux and it laaaaaaags to the point of crawling in multiplayer mode (1fps, mouse veers left for no reason and interface is unresponsive). This is a problem that I didn't have in A17. I've worked around this issue by using the SVN version that I compiled. That one works much better. So maybe its just the package?? idk, but curious to see if others have this issue.

    I like the desolate feel of the first few pictures. I't's very different than the maps we're used to seeing. It would be nice to fight on an 'apocalyptic' scenery like this. I agree that there are probably too many skeletons (though a few adds a sense of impending doom). I'm not sure why the green hill/mountain at the center is surrounded by walls. I also like the snowy mountains scenery with a lot of ice and rocks. Nice touch with the snowman, though personally I find it distracts from the serious tone. Hope this helps.
  23. I have installed the SVN and am able to play as Alpha 18 that way. If you have Linux and are impatient, that is the way to go And yes, congrats on the great work guys!!
