  1. That could be one possibility, or we may setup a thread for recruitments both here and elsewhere. When I have time off, I will contemplate. This council will unite sub organizations which are modding 0 A.D. Under one committee, for the benefit of 0 A.D. as a whole. Forming and combining a team comprised of studios and freelance modders. Much accepted. Your fine work will be needed I'm not sure I get what you asking here? This is irrelevant for time being, because this isn't even an entity/council yet. Once we set up, and start functioning, we will then take it from there You have worked with the dev in the past. Therefore you have a better communication with them. You can be the spokesperson for this council, and present our ideas and requests to the main dev. But your 3D skills will be appreciated and needed in our endeavors
  2. Don't go for later Nvidia cards that are low range. Rather get an older model, such as an nvidia 9500 which in my opinion is a good card even today, despite age. Alternately, you can also get an GTS 250 which is more powerful, and if go on ebay, you may pick these up for the same price as a new 210 ...
  3. And I do I like wall towers and use them a lot, especially palisades siege wall towers to aid defense to my units. And I do agree with not having the infantry attack walls, though this should really also apply to buildings as well. Further to this, instead of attack, they should capture and with the walls you need to have a limit set for infantry to scale walls and capture towers. 5 infantry unit limit (let's say) is the amount required to scale walls. Like the Roman pyramid with shields. But the 5 units on the ground remain with shield pyramids and any excess infantry scale above those 5. This I want included in my mod.
  4. Yes I did. IRC is for live com. But for convenient factors, members of this council would undoubtedly find the web client more appropriate, as opposed to mIrC, xchat or whatever. In my opinion, I should say revert back to old organization for Millennium A.D. Because we will combine our organizations in part of a great big unity. You will see later Let's get members to sign up here first, then we will start the formation of this club. No hurry
  5. Just an idea. A signature that also states the modders skill. Like Kanzen said, we all have different skills. This is just so we know who's who.
  6. Yeah there is, but we need a live communication feed, just like IRC. And welcome Might I propse new signatures for members of the newly formed Modders Council? One of our top tasks is to write extensively, modding guides applying all our knowledge combined. This will attract newcomers to 0 A.D. And encourage more recruits to aid our work.
  7. #0ad should be fine. Doesn't matter what channel, as long as its accessible via the IRC page instead of a client for convenience.
  8. Or I can just create one on the server, but then everyone might might the site more convenient as a client. Lets see what the web team says
  9. A couple things I feel you misunderstood. By expansion, I meant to the dev as sub assistants. The changing gameplay features and unique content can be used in the main version if it's decided upon. So this just becomes a harmonious way of going about it, rather than have groups of modders all doing something completely for one thing, rather than to ensure, and enforce a steady growth rate for the main game. The main game is the seed and root here, and to ensure it grows emphasis needs to be focused on it, rather than starting on the branches, if you get my meaning
  10. Firstly, I just want to add, that I had initially planned on posting this in the modders section. But seeing as though this is on the border between an idea and modding it's best suited in this section. Hope the mods agree. So now one thing I have experienced in this community is the drive and willingness to carry this game through, it cannot be ignored and even though it's noticeable I feel inclined to just point this out and to say well done. Because this just proves to the on lookers and audience out there that the RTS folks are alive and kicking! And in my opinion, because this misconception amongst the corporate game industries, that RTS is a dead market, it's because quite simply they deliver &$@# without actually looking towards open source communities such as this one, and actually saying "you know what hey, ""What do you guys want in an RTS""??? And I think 0 A.D. is an answer to that in operation. In crystal clear clarity. So let me just elaborate what this council thing is about. What I have experienced in the modding section for 0 A.D. thus far, is the devotion shared amongst the modders here. So my idea here is taking into account our time spent into modding creates time gaps in completing tasks of the official projects they enlisted. And as I appreciate very much the help that has been offered, I propose that we introduce a new scheme which formerly unites the projects into one great project, and this project (organization) therefor becomes an expansion to 0 A.D. This is a nice way of contributing to the dev and probably may save them time and hassle with menial stuff, where they could probably levitate the load and focus on the more crucial aspects of the game. I think in our projects now, if we can attract more individuals to help out, we could potentially have a steady work rate going... Then obviously we can assess the ins and outs later. But as a council perhaps we can look into a sort of assignment scheduling, whereby we collectively alter our work on all the projects, rather than focusing on one constantly. Because the majority of those enlisted are all enlisted in the other projects as well. So it just seems to make sense like that basically. But this is just really an idea.... And it would be interesting to hear your thoughts and input on it.
  11. lol ... This post for real? Or you trying to troll? My advice on the later. Don't because you lame at it.
  12. What about Plato? The great philosopher and mathematician.
  13. Funny you should say that. Because looking at your bot just seeing what's there, I'm contemplating on making my own. I think as this is supposed to be for my mod I am trying to get going (one man so-far "me") I will make a Roman one, giving it strategies mostly adopted to Rome. But all in all, I think the concept of a competition will only heighten emphasis on the flexibility, and sort of "forces" the sophistication factor.
  14. @Lion.Kanzen Yes the square maps are an RTS tradition. But I just feel the round variant, has a natural feel to it. Sort of like a representation of Earth being round if catch my drift.
  15. It's quite simply because the women kicked the men out the houses lolz
  16. This is a good idea. But I think what he actually means is, that many AI versions get coded, and then setup a tournament to constantly prove on the blunders. I mean in reality this is exactly why civilizations have wars. Its the constant "tweaking" the bettering of technology and problems and obstacles the enemy throws at you, necessity sets in, and necessity is mother of invention, innovation and progression.
  17. Have you go an updated caption on those ponies of yours mounted? I'd love to see how they coming on. And sorry to be off topic here
  18. Yes the walling off sections of ocean will be silly, however... A sea wall could (for Carthiage) be limited to a docks radius of 60-70 meters, whereby essentially walling off a port space in which to park ships safely from an enemy fleet. So like, if you had fishing ships doing there thing and trade boats coming and going, in the event of a sudden strike with enemy war ships everywhere, you can gather all your ships safely in port, abd still attack the ships with sea towers and general catapult fire from the sea walls.
  19. I agree with Sighvatr And I don't really see why you cannot portray these civilizations as 100% was that meant to be a literal statement? And I can attest to Manias assertion concerning the Ptomolies did NOT make use of the Nubian archers, they were available, but there's evidence that they did not serve in the army. I think the dev has conflated the Ptolomies with the Pharaoh age dynasties of Egypt where the Pharaohs made extensive use of the services of Nubian archers. With reasons to believe, my say on this is that the dev have made it clear that this is just a game and accuracy doesn't feature... Well this is exactly the same lazy slap-dash approach typical of many RTS games, and pointing huge fingers at the MS games crew. Its why so many of us RTS people have flocked here in hopes of change and accuracy, and notably in my case art accuracy. Plus what was the motivation for the first 0 A.D. Dev to have wanted to start this? Think of negative things you saw in older RTSs and compare them with the current state of affairs. I am by no means in any way against the dev, my intention, or hope is they emerge through this as leaders in the genre where it comes to historical accuracy, accurate art portrayal, and good fun game play. Because its what we have at the moment... But in the light of this thread, we are witnessing falsifying elements which leads to suggest that the current course 0 A.D. Is on is curving in another direction. I, Mania, and most of the community, have raised an eye brow in concern of this, and it really is an unsettling predicament. To conclude I portray harsh irrational sentiment to the the dev with an undertone of disrespect in my posts in response to these this things, is a huge misconception, but in fact, moreover, we moderating the course of progression in full support of the dev. We are the members and fans that care. Thank you
  20. That's another thing that be added, an Isralite civ
  21. As far as I am aware. Not every acient dock had sea walls. Carthage was unique because it was new, and nothing matched until the great port constructed by the Byzantines in early Medieval times. Yes the Romans built them too, but not on the scale as Carthage and Byzantium. Pompey apparently would have been an exception, but sadly there's not really any archaeological evidence, but only historical references.
  22. I think the Carthaginians deserve a sea wall. I think evident in history, this wall prolonged Carthage time line. And was most ingeniously built. Carthage actually gets given no credit for just how advanced and established they really were. The Romans had really decimated the civilization to nothing but stone remains half covered in earth. I think 0 A.D. Should honor the great civilization with a new building like this. Some examples: Carthage were Phoenecians, so its of no surprise these guys built bigger and tougher than any nation out at sea.
  23. Its not another formation. Currently its only assigned to cavalry units. And simplifying them? For what? You right let's stick to the topic, which is why there's a loooong one coming soon. Brace yourselves.
  24. You'll be convinced by this, and not take into consideration my proposal of the Roman wedge formation? Expect a long thread petition with a host of literature from me soon.
  25. It would be appropriate as to why. Start off by providing the dev and community with why you believe this unit should be replaced, and offer any sources pertaining to the change, also validating it accordingly. We (that is we the audience) can't vote if there is no reason and necessity. Nor would there be any interest to.
