  2. What about these for the Nabatean camel archers? I am planning to incorporate the armor textures from the Judea mod, as seen below worn by the elite rank units.

  3. Don't get fooled by the numbers displayed in the tooltip. Each armour level reduces damage taken by 10% (i.e. ×0.9). Going from level 1 to 2 is just as effective as going from level 41 to 42. It's not linear, it's exponential, (0.9^x): +1 level is equivalent to 0.9^-1 = +11.1% health +2 levels is equivalent to 0.9^-2 = +23.5% health +3 levels is equivalent to 0.9^-3 = +37.2% health +4 levels is equivalent to 0.9^-4 = +52.4% health +5 levels is equivalent to 0.9^-5 = +69.4% health etc. [EDIT] For future reference: armour level , damage taken , health equivalent x , 0.9^x , 1 / (0.9^x) 0 , 1.000000 , 100% 1 , 0.900000 , 111% 2 , 0.810000 , 123% 3 , 0.729000 , 137% 4 , 0.656100 , 152% 5 , 0.590490 , 169% 6 , 0.531441 , 188% 7 , 0.478297 , 209% 8 , 0.430467 , 232% 9 , 0.387420 , 258% 10 , 0.348678 , 287% 11 , 0.313811 , 319% 12 , 0.282430 , 354% 13 , 0.254187 , 393% 14 , 0.228768 , 437% 15 , 0.205891 , 486% 16 , 0.185302 , 540% 17 , 0.166772 , 600% 18 , 0.150095 , 666% 19 , 0.135085 , 740% 20 , 0.121577 , 823% 21 , 0.109419 , 914% 22 , 0.098477 , 1015% 23 , 0.088629 , 1128% 24 , 0.079766 , 1254% 25 , 0.071790 , 1393% 26 , 0.064611 , 1548% 27 , 0.058150 , 1720% 28 , 0.052335 , 1911% 29 , 0.047101 , 2123% 30 , 0.042391 , 2359% 31 , 0.038152 , 2621% 32 , 0.034337 , 2912% 33 , 0.030903 , 3236% 34 , 0.027813 , 3595% 35 , 0.025032 , 3995% 36 , 0.022528 , 4439% 37 , 0.020276 , 4932% 38 , 0.018248 , 5480% 39 , 0.016423 , 6089% 40 , 0.014781 , 6765% 41 , 0.013303 , 7517% 42 , 0.011973 , 8352% 43 , 0.010775 , 9281% 44 , 0.009698 , 10312% 45 , 0.008728 , 11457% 46 , 0.007855 , 12730% 47 , 0.007070 , 14145% 48 , 0.006363 , 15717% 49 , 0.005726 , 17463% 50 , 0.005154 , 19403%

  5. Made a script that I think would be useful for the modders out there. What it does: Creates a mod pyromod file Creates a mod zip file Creates a backup file of the original folder Names all generated files with the corresponding mod.json version defined Does some sanity checks. You can define a .gitignore file on the root folder of the mod Requirements: Python 3.8.0 or above Optional: gitignore_parser (to install use pip3) How to use: Execute with python3 make_pyromod.py from the command line and read options outputted. The three arguments: "origin", "destination" and "backup" default values are hard-coded as is easier for me this way. You can change them to your liking. make_pyromod.py

  6. Very cool! One thing I'd still like to see is those shoulder length pleated hairstyles that Arabs traditionally sport. I'm not sure how Hellenization affected hairstyles, but it would be cool to incorporate it for the lower rank units at least. Do we have long beards in-game? Arabs on the left being smote by some unpleasant Neo-Assyrian King (Tiglath-Pileser III)

  10. Below are the proposed unit textures for the Arab Javelineer of the Seleucid faction (and the Judean slinger of the Ptolemaic faction)

  11. Here is an example of a Nabataean cuirassed god, Dushārā (Dusares): And this one is from Bir Wereb, near Palmyra, a trinity of deities with Safaitic inscriptions, 1st half of the 1st century AD. "The lamellar cuirass was inspired by Oriental Hellenism." https://www.louvre.fr/en/oeuvre-notices/divine-triad

  12. No they are not. I figured out a big bone of contention in some/many of your historical critiques. You aim to represent factions as a specific snapshot in time, which makes referencing impossible and ignores that 0AD is set in the time period from 500 B.C. to 1 B.C. I already pointed out that the Ptolemies have Cleopatra VII in their unit roster. They also have Ptolemy I in their unit roster. The Seleucids have Seleucus I as well as Antiochus IV. This is not correct either. The Machimoi are even mentioned in the Rosetta Stone (under Ptolemy V).

  13. @nani That's nice. Good job. It doesn't do the most important part though. Caching files :/ XML → XMB, DAE → PMD → PSA, PNG → DDS with mipmaps.

  14. Press Shift while placing building and if rotated when placed the next will also have that last angle.

  15. Furthermore, 0 A.D.'s Ptolemaic and Seleucid unit rosters are evidently based on the Battle of Raphia as described in Polybius book V, which is understandable, because it was a significant battle, the description is detailed, and Polybius is considered a reliable author, but also problematic, because that fight was unusual in many aspects. E.g. it was the only time the Ptolemies used Egyptian troops and the only time the Seleucids fielded a large body of Arabs, so having the Egyptian pikeman and Arab skirmisher as basic starter units for these factions is not really representative.

  16. That should be fixed by D14, which will balance the Pathfinder load over multiple cores. I did but that has caused me a lot of trouble in the past. Ideally I could just switch to one or the other It's more, driver stuff, broken display sometimes when using multiple screens, battery life tweaks to get a fraction of the actual battery life you get on windows, fiddling with package dependencies, that kind of thing. Then when I lost a few dozen hours on that, I start tweaking stuff, and that's usually where it ends I'm more of a markdown guy myself.

  17. If you want an easy arch, use manjaro or anarchy. In my opinion 0ad should free all ram allocated once you get out of a game. Right now you need to restart the app. You could be using 100% ram in a multiplayer game (Jebel for example) and you can restart 0ad and rejoin and you would need a third of the ram.

  18. Not really. Those shields are made from animal hides that are not easily available "up north" (elephant, rhino, hippopotamus) Plenty of inspiration for Arab shields among the art references (including the ones Genava linked). For example, shield bosses are rare among the Sudanese round shields (only wealthy elite), while they are more common among the Arab round shields, like this:

  22. I've wanted to do that for a long time, so here is my take at a Skyship. I called it The Argestesion (using one of the names of the minor wind deities). Maybe with @Freagarach D1958, the side turrets will take life For those who are wondering where they saw this ship, it's in the game and was made by @Shield Bearer and was first posted in this thread
