The lighting is really good on that screenshot. Very natural looking. Their textures are also very detailed and naturalistic. Definitely not too dark. Definitely good for inspiration for 0AD. I don't get why they use puke green all over the place...

I guess for the images it won't matter much, since the license is CC0. Pick whichever has the better search function? It just came to mind since they also have scans of old books and thinks like that, so my brain associated archive.org with the subject matter.1 point

Spellforce III wins hands down. It's not a "dark filter" or an "HBO filter", it's realistic lighting. It's the lighting that I strive for in my screenshots that all of you upvote. Now, the Cossacks 3 screenshot you might definitely have a point. That one's ugly af.1 point

It looks pretty impressive, but you should use the "Edge Split" modifier, so that flat areas are actually flat, and areas that should have a little curve can have one. Example courtesy of @Enrique.1 point
