  2. Pop growth : - 5 pop house / 75 wood (less stairs effect in pop growing) - 20% building time - pop room gain by building some other structures than houses - no metal based human units (metal takes longer to gather than wood) - no stone buildings (except towers and castle) (stone takes longer to gather than wood) --> easy to spam barracks (with their + pop room) - rotative farm too boost food production (and thus, possible to lower the number of food workers ) When you know that pop growth is an exponential phenomena, those cumulated advantages gives to celts an insane advantage. and for units : - Cav Hero for best dancing (Vecingetorix is the best hero of the game) - Sword cav for best siege destroying and quick raids - Slingers, best basic unit since .. very very long time. With basic micro and some healers, slingers can get all <<< and quickly the player dont need even need siege as those massed slingers can destroy absolutely everything or can easily retreat in formation with few dumping. - Brits have a dog which can reduce ennemy pop in early game and already give a substainable advantage. I hope that in next version of 0ad i will see team games with 1 or 2 gauls/brits .. and not 6-7 as we often do now.

  4. Hi all, Unknown Player and I are organizing a weekly event on Youtube. We would like to live stream during a 4v4 pro team game with commentary. We would like to collaborate with a streamer. Our main purpose is here to create something like a league that not depend on players. We saw how hard to schedule 1v1 during The first 0ad championship. Sometimes it took weeks to finish the games. According to our experience, most pro players are in the lobby seeking for a team game between 18.00 to 21.00 (UTC). So it can be a good idea to broadcast one of those matches with some interviews/commentary or even Q&A. Nowadays, the 0ad community is growing. We believe that bringing an attraction to pro team games can add extreme value from newbies to pro players. We have some rough ideas about this event: -We would like to broadcast only one game. There are several reasons for doing this. First of all, it's easy to organize with a few people who are behind this event. Secondly, we're trying to bring good quality games with pro players, but it's regularly. Creating an event that needs effortless. Since we play at least 3 days of the week. It can be season to season like a league. -Initial rules are like this: - No spec allowed (Watch on "Streamer's" Channel) - Game start at ~19:00 (UTC) - No players who make lag - Best players have priority to play - Hosted by "Unknown_Player" Rules: No dance No wonder Map Mainland 200 pop Autumn Normal size Our current plan is hosting a game on Sundays at ~19.00 (UTC) by Unknown Player. And I'll assist to live stream and coordination stuff. There will be other commentators too. For now, we're curious if we can find a streamer in the community who can livestream in her/his channel with commentary. Are you interested in this project? Do you know a streamer who can collaborate with us? Let us know what you think about it. Also, we are capable of creating graphics like this: Have a nice day! See you.

  6. You should be able to find a few people who have streamed 0AD video's before in the "0AD on Youtube" thread. You might have better luck asking those people directly on youtube because they don't usually have accounts on this forum. MayorceteGaming for example is a relatively high profile youtuber who recently streamed a 0AD MP game and has done a number of videos on 0AD before (he's a fan). Though he's Spanish speaking...

  8. Yeah, Sudan's electoral system hasn't exactly been functional the past 3 decades, so it's hard to tell where it's going... The Defense Minister, Awad Mohamed Ahmed Ibn Auf seems to be calling the shots for now. They did arrest a significant number of people close to Bashir as well, and the military ordered the release of political prisoners, so something definitely got uprooted. There are some clear parallels to the uprising in Algeria that recently ousted president Bouteflika, as well as the Oromo and popular uprising in Ethiopia that lead to the rise of Abiy Ahmed as the new Prime Minister, and he honestly seems to be working miracles up to now. People are just fed up, you know... "Democracy" might not be working but the least we can expect from our leaders is to not be genocidal maniacs... It's really not that much to ask.

  9. The fall of a Tyrant Wow, a historic day for Sudan. Today, April 11th, 2019, after 5 months of bloody protests, the military of Sudan has announced the removal from office, and subsequent arrest of president Omar al-Bashir, Sudan's sitting president for the past 30 years... Omar al-Bashir was a war criminal with a shocking body count of 1.5 million deaths in the civil war with South Sudan and between 200.000 and 400.000 deaths from the genocide in Darfur. There were so many evils about his rule, I wouldn't even know where to start... The Nubian Queens were present in full force! The now iconic Alaa Salah is actually being called a "Kandake"... Just since the last few days, soldiers started defending protesters after they saw Bashir's security forces firing at them. At least 6 soldiers were killed defending the people. Today the military said enough is enough and announced a transitional government. The protesters (and the African Union) aren't happy by the military take over either, and will continue protesting until a civilian government is installed. A luta continua! Power to the people of Sudan!

  13. isn't that simple, because the terrain isn't considerate an entity like the actual mines, the hills are only part of a mesh where units trace or follow their path. by other hand we haven't cliff yet. we are doing this idea with some limited features. @stanislas69 can explain this better.

  14. As I said to Unknown player I could maybe do it but with a lot of drawbacks. I have monotone voice with bad english pronoucing, on top of having dubious quality micro (i think i had problems about volume), I don't use camera hotkeys and I have 4Mbps upload speed (if you mean live streaming). That's what you pay for getting my understanding of the game

  15. Yes, I heard about it. Also, a Turkish Youtuber has made a video about the game. So, we know where all nubs come from. Also, we are looking for someone who knows how to play at least a medium player. Because there will be commentary during the game. He/She can mention some recent or pro tactics so everyone benefits from it. Or recent updates... the current condition of the players etc. I imagine that like a league not depends on a particular player but also only high-level players at the first. Thanks for your advice. We do it if can't find someone on the forum.

  21. Similar to what's happened in North Korea. The real dictator there were two of the old generals. They're now gone and Kim Jong-un is in control. Some think his family was hostage and when Trump says "all the hostages are free" he's talking about KJU's kids. KJU is not in full control but he's getting there. We also had a palace Coup in Saudi Arabia after the strong man military prince died in a chopper crash. I don't think that was an assassination but someone, Mohammad bin Salman, was ready to go when it happened. They tried to smear the new crown prince with the Khashoggi thing but failed. I think Khashoggi has just been arrested and taken home alive but the Turks jumped to the murder conclusion so the Saudis played along. The Turkish police timeline has hole in it. With Sudan the question's are: Is there a real reformer in the country? Can the muslim population really do freedom [that's a worldwide question]? Are there foreign players? China? Did some islamist cross the wrong Chinese engineer and his family? That was a predictable risk. Is the USA & Trump helping? Or someone from the USA but on the opposing side to Trump? Europe? Or is it fully home grown and the product of modern social media technology? Many Questions. It looks hopeful. Hopefully it will also mean the lights go back on for our friends in South America too. All a bit much for a gaming site and a little off topic but we are seeing liberty coming to many interesting places but in a manor that's totally new.

  27. Oh sh*t I am sorry you got this. I know some persons with irritable bowel syndromes and indeed, stress management helps them to reduce the symptoms. If I can suggest you one thing, drawing is a good hobby and stress reliever, I used this when I got a depression. Simply drawing patterns, animals or trees, it helps you focusing your mind on something not stressful. Thanks mate. It is interesting the development and the evolution of the Celtiberian society. It seems the historians really divide the Celtiberian Iron age in different stage according to their warfare characteristics (Stage I = Ancient pre-5th century BC with light equipment ; Stage II = Aristocratic equipment and full panoply with the classical disc cuirass, helmet, daggers, round shields and swords 5th to 3rd century BC ; Stage III = More Mediterranean influence, Roman equipment notably, montefortino helmet. More Celtic equipment. ) This in interesting because the Iberians didn't have the same division. Aristocratic panoply are more common before the 4th century BC. Documents analyzing iberian panoplies: https://www.academia.edu/1473558/Military_developments_in_the_Late_Iberian_culture_c._237-c._195_BC_Mediterranean_influences_in_the_Far_West_via_the_Carthaginian_military_in_English_. https://www.academia.edu/29055748/_La_guerra_y_el_armamento_ibérico_estado_actual_F._Quesada_Sanz_2016_In_R._Graells_D._Marzoli_eds._Armas_de_la_Hispania_prerromana.RGZM_Tagungen_Band_24_Mainz_2016_pp._165-192 @Lion.Kanzen If I can suggest you a useful tool as well: http://removelinebreaks.net/ Very useful when you copy past text from pdf files. No need to translate everything. It is only to browse through the documents, highlighting the important points and the details that could be interesting about the equipment. I understand a bit Spanish (this is a latin language sooo...) but it took me far more time to only browse the documents and often I missed some points.

  29. Do you happen to have a list of assets you think should be updated or replaced?
    1 point
  30. Someone asked me recently how I manage to make the game look so good in my screenshots. One of the major reasons is I refuse to use half of the assets in the game. If I think some tree models are ugly, I don't use them. If I don't think some terrains are up to snuff, I don't use them. I don't care about visual variety, I care about visual coherence. Just a thought. It's one of the reasons I am so excited about @LordGood new assets here. They're a much-needed update! I'd like to see some of the older/uglier gaia assets updated, definitely! If you would update some of the existing trees , bushes, and rocks that maps already use, then you can automatically make maps look better without touching a single line of map code. Some older stuff that can use updates: flora_tree_tamarix flora_tree_fig flora_tree_olive flora_tree_aleppo_pine (I like the funky and distinct trunk shapes, shame about the texture/canopy geometry) flora_tree_pine (a mix of "generic" pine trees) props/flora/bush (dire geometry) props/flora/bush_desert_dry_a (I use this one a lot on my maps, specifically desert and snow maps, but the geometry of the mesh leaves a weird "hole" in the middle) a lot of the "bush" actors in general. Only the small ones are good as-is (like props/flora/bush_medit_sm and _dry, I use those a lot) A lot of the decorative "stone" actors too. I use geology/stone_{biome}_med a looooot for general spiciness. I hardly ever use the larger stone actors because most of them just don't look any good, lol. If some of these can just be updated, then boom, a lot of the maps that use them automatically look a ton better. Same goes for the existing terrain textures.

  31. I can only sign this. Though I tried to give this virtual engagement a more personal note long ago when I desperately tried to arrange a meeting with forum powers I valued a lot. It was all rejected though despite me offering to travel to France. But if we really all have a nice friendly gathering one day, or if we ever meet to plan our world peace plots, then I will also offer drinks to all these amazing contributors. (I am no less serious) The works are all very impressing! not only those by LordGood, but of course he replaces and entire army (and produces shooort great videos that are no tutorial but still have very loud sound that made me feel in dire need of some utilities from the Weasley brothers lal - not to forget these trees that grow as if made for marksmen, tricking interpolation, putting Atlas Cedar on two feet - all at a single day. what a man).

  33. The temple was built from sandstone and fired brick, which was then plastered with white lime plaster. In the 6th image of the references you can still clearly see the patchy remains of the 2000 year old plaster. So yes, this temple, like most, if not all Kushite temples, palaces and elite residences in other royal cities like Naqa, Basa, Muweis and others would have been gleaming white under the Sudanese sun (or broken white because of all the sand). Some of the Egyptian pyramids looked white because of the polished limestone they used (limestone is very rare in Nubia). Hahaha, lol... Why do I get this ominous feeling? Like this, right? https://trac.wildfiregames.com/wiki/Basic3DImplementation

  34. @Wesley “Dr” Clyde Winters is a fraudulent piece of garbage. Black Supremacist trash. Worthless scum… He has no academic expertise in ancient languages whatsoever. Some of his writings include: The Ancient Celts and Vikings were Black People The Sumerians were Black The Black Greeks The Blacks of China's First Civilization: The Xia Ancient African Kings of India African Empires in Ancient America (2013) The Ancient Black Civilizations of Asia (2013) Atlantis in Mexico: The Mande Discovery of America (2013) Meroitic Writing and Literature (2013) He also claims that the ancient inhabitants of Atlantis, as well as King James I of England were black... In addition to Meroitic, he also claims to have deciphered: Indus (Harappan) script Sumerian Olmec script Clyde Winters is a lier and a fraud. Nothing he writes is peer reviewed. The precursors of the Meroitic language have been spoken for thousands of years before Buddhism even existed. It's mostly Nilo-Saharan, evolving out of Proto-Nilo-Saharan with Afro Asiatic influences, and has nothing to do with Gandhara… If you want to learn about Meroitic, I suggest looking up the works of Dr. Claude Rilly, "Doctor in Egyptology and linguistics, and director of the French archaeological mission of Sedeinga (SEDAU), Co-editor of the Meroitic Newsletters, Member of the board of the International Society for Nubian Studies and of the Sudan Archaeological Research Society, he is also research fellow at the CNRS" https://www.cambridge.org/core/books/the-meroitic-language-and-writing-system/D1534C93DCCA955D82E0594CE92598FC Clyde Winters on the other hand is a major source of misinformation. A very toxic individual. A disrupter. One of many ugly stains on the internet. He makes a living out of duping gullible people of African decent. I have come across his garbage on numerous occasions, and I shudder every time. Basically I hate him… This website is dedicated to debunking individuals like him: https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Clyde_Winters

  37. So, I have this idea about incorporating the Celtiberians in the current Iberian faction. The Kushites have this Nuba Villages right? And the Carthaginians have access to Celtic Embassies. Most of the current game factions have some sort of mercenary camp which they could build. The Athenians, Spartans and Macedonians have access to the Royal Stoa. The Diadochi factions have the military colonies. What if we create a Celtic Village structure for the Iberians, where they could recruit Celtic unit rosters. This building will fuction like a military colony where resources could be dropped and could be garrisoned. This is also a great way of showcasing the Celtiberian architecture in a single structure in the game. @Genava55 @feneur @Itms @LordGood @stanislas69 @Alexandermb
