  3. Locked this topic as it's not adding to the actual discussion of the gameplay etc but is just an argument over who's better - which is quite pointless in an unfinished game, so it's probably worth spending your time on something more rewarding

  4. This number is really really variable, so I don't think it can be usefull during the gameplay. For example, every second I change something in the number of people gathering res, so it would be in my opinion a total mess stat. Maybe it can be more interesting a stat that makes an average of how many resources of one type you collect per second, but also this is too variable

  5. It could be useful to have number of gatherers per ressource, to know when a mine run out for example, and number of idle units would be good in general. But for me it would only be interesting if it's print somewhere on the screen, i wouldn't click a button just for that

  6. Off topic: @thankforpie I want to remind you this is the "Gameplay Development & Technical Discussion" part of the forum. The tone this thread went is not my taste but this is not at all what I understand as a "discussion" and won't drive development. So I ask you to keep this kind of comments out of here

  10. Definitely, could someone suggest what to write though? Especially since we haven't really told people that we are working on a re-release, so it might be good to begin with that

  11. I would like to propose a button to see the ECO stats. like how many units are working on food, wood, metal, stone etc. There can be other things like idlers count, gather rate etc. I think it will help much during gameplay. Basically in rise of nations (an famous RTS game) there is a button for it by clicking on that you can see a brief stat of your economy. In brief I will propose some option that can show: 1. number of units working on different resources including how many man and women and cav unit in which kind of resource.. 2. the number of idle units including how many man and women and cav. 3. the gather rate of each resource. note: for clarification kind of units needed because different kind of units collect different amount of resource (difference in man and women gather rate). and also the gather rate of resources because walk distance influences the gather rate.

  17. All was fine on my end, I tried some multiplayer earlier and everything was fine. Tried 3 mods and that worked as well. Loading an old save game and an old replay and it worked too. Jebel Barkal and Hellas worked correctly. Finally the ingame downloader worked correctly and downloaded properly. No lobby lag at all, hosting and rejoining a game worked correctly too. I tried hosting a team multiplayer game 4vs4 (with just ai and myself) and it worked fine. 19. Diodorus Siculus XXV: The king of the Orissi/Oretani, however, came to the aid of the beleaguered city, and by a feigned offer of friendship and alliance succeeded in routing Hamilcar. In the course of his flight Hamilcar contrived to save the lives of his sons and his friends by turning aside on another road; overtaken by the king, he plunged on horseback into a large river and perished in the flood under his steed, but his sons Hannibal and Hasdrubal made their way safely to Acra Leucê. Strabo, geography 3.3.2: Of those who dwell above the aforesaid mountains, the Oretani are the most southern, extending in part as far as the sea-coast on this side the Pillars. Next these towards the north are the Carpetani, then the Vettones and Vaccæi, through whose [country] the Douro flows as it passes Acontia, a city of the Vaccæi. The Gallicians are the last, and inhabit for the most part a mountainous country: on this account they were the most difficult to subdue, and furnished his surname to the conqueror of the Lusitanians; in fact, at the present day the greater part of the Lusitanians are beginning to call themselves Gallicians. The finest cities of Oretania are Castulo and Oria. For the other infos, it should come maybe from Cornelius Nepos and Appian, Iberike. But they are hard to find in english online. Moreover the st*pid guy that wrote the wikipedia page didn't put the original references. Edit: like always, the Roman historiography is full of legends, moral judgments and distortions of the truth for political reasons. It is hard to know which version of the Oretani's king is true.

  20. You could have noticed that I like to encourage people to post interesting replays, so maybe my like had little to do with you being on the losing side. However, in order to understand that, realizing that the world doesn't revolve around you might be needed, so I don't think we can do much here. You might have promoted yourself to a gold player in your terminology, but we can't just unsee all the many games you one-sidedly lost to players you'd like to view as inferior. I only have the full data of replays between us two, but let me help you calibrate your views using this example. Recently you claimed to win 80 % of games against me. The truth? You only really got to 50 % by winning the last one (which took place after your claim). You didn't resign in a single of those games before the host was closed, but that doesn't make your defeat disappear. Your numbers are way off and I think you should be more respectful towards other players. A top player would probably beat a hobby player like me in at least 90 % of the games.

  21. Not sure where the problem is. The game is barely more than a tech demo at this point, and the rating - if at all - is only to be used as an identifier if you're playing against a "newbie" or someone who already played lots of games. To prevent that the majority of online tests are noobstomps.

  22. It appears that the difference between 1400 and 1600 is an order of magnitude and the difference between 1600 and 1800 is another order of magnitude. This is shown by the fact that ~1600 is top 100 but ~1800 is very rare in comparison (top 10), and >2000 is ultra rare. IMO it would be pretty hard to get much higher than 1600 by playing low rated players. It's also not difficult to get into the top 100 because there are not thousands and thousands of active rated players; just hundreds. If you assume there are only 200 active rated players then top 100 would really only be just somewhere above the 50th percentile of active players. Top X is always arbitrary and can only be considered a measure of skill as it compares to the total # of competitors. The total # of competitors is kind of unknown and many(most) rated players are inactive and/or have only played a very small # of games. In short, the value of the rating system is increased with more participation and participation is relatively low. Also, interpreting a player's rating as a measure of skill requires knowledge of certain variables that aren't exactly easily known, but for instance, make sure you at least consider the # of rated games the player has participated in.

  23. Hm, I think I have a screenshot from the Zelda mod (using the patch that a user who I forgot the name of helped me with that lets me play with any civ) My valliant Ferrumian crusaders preparing to slay the evil Gerudo in their desert.

  24. funny you started saying how op siege towers are after I smashed you hard yeah thats entirely why you want siege nerfed this much, while you try to dance with cav hero everytime just before battle starts. dancing is way way way more unrealistic than siege towers issue. but thats not an 'unrealism' issue for you because dancing is something you can employ in your favorite civ while siege tower strat is not and catapults are easy to catch due to slow packing/unpacking. no need to make it easier
