  1. Sentry towers I dunno, I'm pretty fond of these tiles. Romans are kind of pinkish, i want a nice red for sparta. the different faded color tiles are nice too. The normal maps are fine, they just got messed up in translation i guess? I can restore it easy enough in the gimp file

  3. Broke a few textures but they're all in one place now at least. I think this is a good jumping off point in terms of color scheme. Small screenie i know but I'm working off my laptop. that also means baking textures takes forever

  5. The host should backup mainlog.html file before starting the game again (as its overwritten with each gamestart). It contains the IP address of joining clients, see 'Net server: Received connection' lines. Can be fixed by implementing #3549, which will be a good amount of unrewarding work. Implementing that will also make it impossible to have player replacements (which are currently used quite often) (without implementing them properly). One can also add two lines to the code to show the IP address of joining clients, but we had decided to not show IPs of players because other trolls used that too for unfriendly purposes. Annoying.

  8. Did you read the thread? The point was that there were a few exceptions. If/when I give the Athenians a once-over I'll add/keep ionic columns where they're appropriate. I wasn't making the case that they shouldn't get Ionic columns

  9. Their set already uses Ionic columns in their cc and temple bro.

  15. @LordGood Here I present two more possible reference-sites for Meroitic-period fortifications in Sudan, although I will immediately add that neither of them have been positively identified as Meroitic. The similarities are just too much to ignore. The first site shows the "ruins of a small fort between Sedeinga and Sai Island, Northern Sudan". The area features Ancient Egyptian, Napatan, Meroitic, Christian Nubian, and Ottoman-era ruins, and I don't believe they've been archaeologically surveyed yet. The fort itself clearly isn't ancient Egyptian, nor Ottoman (an Ottoman fort nearby is very distinctive from these ruins), which narrows it's dating down to the Napatan, Meroitic or Christian Nubian period (it doesn't look Christian either). I believe that the clear similarity with other Napatan and Meroitic sites makes it a useful reference. The second site is the fortress at Berenice Panchrysos, and almost definitely wasn't Meroitic. It was a Blemmye (Beja) town on the Red Sea coast in Northern Sudan, in the Nubian desert, probably used by the Ptolemies as a way-station, and an important source of gold, for both Ancient Egyptian Pharaohs, Ptolemies and Romans. I'm sharing it because the architecture of the fortress follows the same layout and design of Meroitic palaces and fortified residences, (especially Karanog) and uses the same building materials and techniques as the fortifications at Qasr Ibrim and Gala Abu Ahmed, hundreds of miles to the West of it.

  16. I think it was an issue with something that was leftover. I cleaned everything and it is working now.

  17. It's more work than what justifies the change, the factions ought to be plenty different once I'm through with them. The other issue being that ionic columns are only really read from one direction, so such capitals were usually used for that purpose and supported with the more simple doric columns. ionic columns facing the backs of other ionic columns is awkward and breaks immersion, for me at least. lovely façade columns though

  18. Autocorrect strikes again? If it isn't too much work and won't violate historical accuracy, it could make sense though to give one of them only Doric and the other only Ionic columns to make them more recognizable in the game: Internal visual cohesion of the faction Visual differentiation between the factions

  19. No they don't have to be skinned. To see how you have to place your weapon just import one from the game. Yes you can animate pretty much everything. There are animated capes in 0ad.
