  3. Does it have to be random? Can just find 3 or 4 good lighting settings of consistent aesthetic and randomize between those. That way you know the map will always look good. You can do what you want to do with disabling techs and buildings, but I think you may open a can of snakes. For instance, you should disable the cartography tech then in non-team games -- 1v1 and locked-team free for alls. But what if there is a 1v1v2. Disable the tech for the first two player and not the last two. Got the code for that? There are a lot of edge case like this, so if you want to be consistent, be prepared to go all the way, IMHO.

  4. I know what a Blood map is quite well. My favorite Blood-style map from the MSN Gaming Zone days was Hooters Hood. No, what I was suggesting is having a "deck of cards" system similar to that AOEO video from Rofl -- or like AOE3. Each 0 A.D. civ could have 10+ heroes to choose from and players can have premade decks of them -- one hero for each phase of the game, hopefully moddable to 4+ phases -- and the player would get these heroes when they phase up in the game. Based on the deck of heroes you choose you get those heroes when you play the game. So, Persians could have a bunch of Persian heroes to pick from, but the player can only choose 3 -- or 4 for DE -- and assign them to a phase. I imagine in a herocide game, the hero you get at the beginning would be randomized from the 3 or 4 heroes you have in the deck you chose during match setup. In most other gametypes you get a hero at the start and a new hero each time you phase.

  7. Imho things should only be disabled, when you must not use them on this map (like the lighthouse on the map with the many tiny lakes). When things cannot be used on this map or wouldn't make sense for this map, it should be up to the player to realize that. but as the map has no wood, you won't get 26 units gathering wood

  8. Hey @Strannik ! Lovely animations! and glad to see you back! Visual actors (models) are out of the equation of selection boxes, so they doesn't interfere at all. However, the origin point does. Imagine a small circle decal of the "selected" stuff will always be around the origin point, and the unit/actor will rotate with that origin as a pivot. Resuming: in this case, the selection ring would be around the origin point, which would leave half of the snake out of the circle. It doesn't really matter where the root bone is, as long as you have in mind that the origin point would be the "center" of the selection ring. There should be a workaround to offset the animation towards the origin so it can be more centered, but can't think of it now other than going through all frames manually. Such good work on the animation man. Looking really detailed, too bad we don't have a FPS mode lol. Keep it up!

  9. I like the advisor thing at the beginning. If 0 a.d. did something like that, it could be done in the game setup, and players can make presets or decks of advisors. I'm think it could be free heroes that spawn at the beginning of each phase. Instead of training the heroes from fortresses. Provides opportunity to give each faction many many more hero choices, and the decks of heroes creates a meta level for the game.

  10. I've hidden three recent posts because they were unrelated to the topic, and if anything only could serve to cause conflict. If someone wants to be sure that others take their opinions/suggestions seriously I would advise to not bring up old conflicts but rather new ideas

  11. We could try something completely different too (like a sunrise, but notice that the settings below could and should be tweaked further): Changing the tint is mostly noticeable around the edges of the water, here I changed the tint from gray to orange:

  12. Give your ideas for taunts! First, list numbers, like 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. Then the corresponding taunt you'd like to see. I think taunts 1 and 2 are no brainers. They will be 1. Yes, and 2. No. But after that its all open for suggestions! I think the first 10 should be about resources and basic commands/help requests. The next 10 will be a little more "taunty" but still related to the game in some way. 21 - 30 could be a little more off-the-wall, with crazy ones like, "Whew, your elephant stinks!" or something, but still related in the smallest ways to the game. Taunts 31-50 can be anything you want... Monty Python quotes, Gladiator quotes, poetry, whatever. How about we do it this way. I will give a number and the taunt I'd like to see, then the next person gives the next number and the taunt he'd like to see and so on. If (thats a big if, considering the low participation in these forums) we reach 50, then we'll start over again with new taunts! Okay, first two are already taken: 1.) Yes 2.) No So, I'll start with number 3... 3.) My food is running out

  15. Hi, i'm just registered a new account today to say, that you are making a great job on this mod. I added a girl i found in the "gaia/celts" folder in public, i gave her a shield and axe, so this could be the Shield Maidens, i would like to ad something different to her to make her special, like aura for man's in battle increasing their damage or more damage against man. also it would be great to make she have her leather cloth too since i just taked the template and changed names and some codes because i don't know anything about textures or meshes Skjaldmö = Shield Maiden Also added viking longboat to the dock but only for City Phase, that longboat would be great if it have shields around and garrison inside visible
