On Sunday we had a workshop with some other people. We showed to three or four how to mod the game, and to one how to translate the game. Hopefully there will be new contributors on the forums. We also had a talk with the person who made the GLTF importer for Blender, and we might contact him in the future when we make the switch from Collada to GLTF Finally I had a talk with the school head master about next year art contributions, so we might have 2D, 3D, Animation, and Web Design contributions next school year.

Well, about 1 month I started working with 3ds max. I had no idea until then, I started from 0, only some youtube videos to help me. I know it's pretty simple and I still need to learn lots of new things, but I think it would be interesting for us to use this topic to share our arts. What u think guys?? Cya

I have finally made this into an actual piece of published collateral. It is not much, but as promised, here it is. This is probably the last you'll hear from me, so thanks once more for all the help, and have a good one!

Widelands Build 20 Released The Widelands Development Team is proud to announce the immediate availability of Widelands Build 20. Widelands is a free, cross-platform economy strategy game in which players control the fate of a small tribe that can grow into a big empire, in a style of play that is unique in the open source world. Since the previous release, we have implemented over 400 features, code cleanups and bug fixes. Build 20 features a new tribe – the Frisians – as well as four new campaign scenarios and a new “Barracks” building for recruiting soldiers. Also, the AI has been rewritten to use a genetic algorithm. The user interface comes with new features that make it easier to use, like map zoom, dropdown menus, a new ships list, and improved keyboard navigation. Build 20 also continues the behind the scenes cleanup, polish and modernization that was started with Build 19. There have been additional improvements to the stability and performance, as well as numerous bug-fixes. PeerTube Trailer Full announcement on Widelands Homepage

So, I'm thinking of making Horses and Camels into capturable animals in Delenda Est, instead of (lol) sources for hunting. Sure, horse meat and camel meat was and is eaten, but more likely these beasts of burden were captured for the service they can provide (as war horses, farm animals, ships of the desert, etc.). I can remove their food resource and make them capturable objects on the map that you can bring back to your base, complete with aura benefits like relics. This can be done easily. One thing I wish the game could do is swap a player color collar onto the animal when it is captured by a player. The sheep kind of do this, but it's just a player color stripe in their texture which is nicely hidden when Gaia by the fact that their wool is white. But despite this, I think I will do this. Anyone have any thoughts? Oh, here's some new portraits for these animals @Stan`. I hope some time in the future we can get Bactrian camels as well.

It would be nice if there were some clear procedure to get simple gameplay changes implemented. 0 A.D. has greatly improved over the years and a lot of content has been added, but when it comes to gameplay, fundamentally the status quo has hardly changed. @borg-'s and other mods do much more than just a few balance tweaks and are therefore not straightforward to implement. Overhauling everything at once is not necessarily a good idea. Doing it in small steps is preferable, because then it's easier to explain what has changed and why. For instance, the last stat tweak of rams was 3 years ago (18735); since then it has been frequently pointed out that rams are still too powerful, yet nothing has changed so far.

Nice! Everything looks nice and authentic. I acquiesced on the player color because I realized a lot of the Persian textures already had a lot of player color. I like your textures, you do an incredible job. I even used some of your new textures for DE's Kardakes. Request. Can you re-commit them has RGB color instead of indexed color? lol I can't import them to Photoshop with SuperPNG for some reason. lol Request 2: Maybe look into the Persian Female Citizen textures. They could use updating, improving, and variation.

Things have moved quicker this week, but for a release i'm not sure when. I want two factions to be well balanced and the rest to be polished enough to be enjoyed by the community. One game-play change that is coming with the mod is taking away the ability to build walls. Walls will be built in with the maps, and walls are going to be at-least 5x-10x stronger. So how you use the castle is up to the player, but wooden palisades can still be built. example:

@Lion.Kanzen I made a rudimentary map of Africa, roughly from the 3rd century BC to 1st century BC-ish. It's a bit rough on the edges, forgive me but it will give you a better understanding than those random general maps that just omit everything. The spaces in between are probably occupied by low density hunter gatherers and even "troglodytes" (cave dwellers). There are probably other cultures that deserve mention on this map as well, but I'm not familiar enough with them.

I just want to let you guys know that I'm already working on the "Great Bronze Athena" statue. I'm still trying to get pose and proportions right from every angle. Once done, I'll start sculpting. It'll probably take me some time to finish it all but we'll have a great statue at the end.

@Alexandermb New gaul barracks with your shields
  25. 6 points
Hi. How about instead of the Nomad Camp and Nuba Village being like barracks with limited unit variety that have low HP/capture points and that take a L O N G time to build, you make them be like barracks with limited unit variety that have low HP/capture points and that take a short time to build. I mean come on, the Nomad camp appears to be a few tents. If I practiced I might be able to set that up in 200 seconds in real life. And while were at it, since its a Nomad camp, why not allow it to be built in neutral territory, requiring garrison to not turn into gaia? Just a suggestion to give Kushites some needed help to be a tiny bit more competitive in multiplayer.

Why so much fear in experimenting? Make a change and if it doesn't have the desired effect then revert that change or change it some more. I swear the team didn't used to be so tepid when it came to this stuff. Who cares if some people howl at the changes? Listen to those who make constructive suggestions and ignore those who don't. Battering Rams have been OP for 3 years, Bolt Shooters have been UP for years. Siege Towers are just weird. People spam Slingers, when really melee infantry is what they should spam (ranged units should support the melee infantry and cavalry should be for raiding or targeted strikes). Perhaps it's because there hasn't been someone designated to decide these things?

Hi all, I would like to invite you to our Week#2 live-stream event. There will be a 4v4 match at 18.00 (UTC) on Sunday with dual-commentary by Alistair Findlay and Feldfeld. If you want to convert UTC time zone to your time zone you can visit this website. You can Play/Watch/Contribute/Ask questions during the event. It's only one match once a week. So, Players who want to play should be in the room a little early. Players who want to Spec/Contribute/Ask questions should watch the event on Alistair Findlay's channel: Here is the link. We're playing on desert/mainland this week. There will be more maps during the event. We're thinking this is like a league for players. Currently, we're limiting the event as 8 weeks. There'll be a league fixture too (coming soon). Rule Breakers get yellow and red cards. If you brake no dancing, no wonder rule during the match, you get a yellow card. 2 yellow cards mean 1 red card. If you have a red card, you are banned for the next event. If you're curious about what is going on with the league fixture, you can visit this topic. Please let me know If you have any questions. Have fun,

I would like to add more economy base buildings such as foundries which could generate metal, and maybe more passive generating resource buildings. Also game balancing isn't my best skill so most of what i'm currently working on for the mod is mostly experimental. There is alot that i'm still learning, but maybe we could collaborate in the future. Thanks, I thought I would have had this out last month, but I figured I release something more polished and less rushed so things are taking longer. This mod is also a project i'm doing on my free time so in one week things can move fast or come to a halt. More factions will be added, but which one's im not sure. At the moment three is all I can handle right now.

Don't get me wrong, since a stable balance mod already exists, we might as well use it. I think what Darc and I are saying is the team itself shouldn't bother with balance and should prob focus on features. If modders want to make balance mods, then more power to them. Just be prepared to rebalance whenever a new feature is introduced.

It just means I enjoy coding for coding's sake. I've mostly worked on 'engine' things lately (pathfinding optimisations, code cleanups, things like that) because that's fun to me. Whether I was optimising an RTS or another type of game is not very relevant. I do have my own opinions on where I believe 0 A.D. should go as a game, some strong, other less so, but for me personally there are higher priorities right now and so I am not debating gameplay or playing much.

They're related phenomena, along with mirages, where layers of different temperature air refract light to give neat trippy visual effects. Work on my Palmyra map continues. Can anyone tell that I like the desert art set? Anyway, the map has a trade route down the middle of it with 6 capturable desert trading posts along it. The map also has a number of fruiting Date Palm groves ripe for the picking, along with some open sandy areas and craggy cliffs. This is one of two small oases on the map, long with this guy previously posted... Each player will have 2 nearby stone quarries, like this one, right outside their starting territories: Anyone want to model the Palmyran Temple of Bel for me? lol

In the spirit of the following article http://www.cysion.be/aocbox/?p=188, I thought it would be nice to share some of the remarkable things we have learned from 0 AD about the past. To start off: In the ancient times, people (other than women) always wore full armour even when going about their daily activities, quickly making them disappear whenever they needed to grab tools. Soldiers often liked to make victory poses in the middle of battle. This resulted in a completely new outfit and temporary immortality. Unfortunately, posing never caught on as a mainstream tactic due to the presence of champions, who refused to pose because they thought they were already cool enough.

Locking this topic because it seems like it won't produce anything useful. @gameboy I honor your motivation, but we can't do everything at the same time and people might have other things to do. And everytime you ping a dev they use precious time to look at that ping instead of investing time into the game. So please use that measure wisely and careful.

I do this too. What we need is a true POG system (Premade Object Groups). Imagine in Atlas you go into POG mode and it loads a tiny "map" on which you can place objects. Then you save this grouping as a POG that is then added to a new sort in the object menu, which can now be placed in subsequent skirmish or scenario maps as one object (as if you're copying a pasting), or even extended to be placed by random map scripts too.

Hello @elexis, have not seen you around for quite some time. But before i stray away from what i wanted to say : First of all, i apologize for this late reply. I was just not thinking about it anymore because of some other stuff that was going on. But something reminded me of this running application. It was not the nicest way to remind me of it (because someone named me moderator in the lobby chat and i had the "@" in front of my name for a short time :D). But without further delay i want to announce that i do not intend to keep my application running. I realized that i can help people even without me being a moderator. Of course i dont have any rights to make sure people act acording to the rules then. But that is okay for me. Helping those that i am able to help will be enough for me. And again, i apologize for the time i might have stolen from any of you. Wish you the best Tyler1
