Great Hall
The Great Hall is the civic center of all Edainic settlements. It is a place of social interaction but also a the central source of power. It defines the area of influence an Edainic settlement has, as it generates the so called “Home Area” around the perimeter that allows the player to build other buildings around it. A Great Hall is also the primary resource deposit for the Edainic economy. Here the player can also build the Work Cart which doubles as a mobile resource deposit point.

Next to equipment the Great Hall is the place to train Villagers, Scouts and Heralds to conduct Diplomacy. Speaking of Diplomacy – the Great Hall is the primary contact point for all diplomatic relations with other civilisations. A foreign civilisation may choose to establish a permanent diplomatic office – but this requires that the player expands the Great Hall with the Embassy add-on. When the Embassy of the foreign civilisation is established, a flag is hoisted on the “Ambassadorial Wing” at your Great Hall building.

House
The only role of the Edainic House, as with any other dwelling, is to provide the Edain with extra living space (equates in more available Population Slots). So in TLA, the House will increase the total population limit for the civilisation, allowing more units to be trained.

Homestead
The Homestead is the main food production building for the Edain. It also adds to the total population limit, but not in such high numbers as the House does. At the Homestead the player can set up to four distinct ways of gathering resources in different sizes. Those resources include Food from Grain, Food from Livestock and Wool from Sheep. By assigning villagers to each “field” up to the appointed maximum Villager slots the player can control the productivity of his farmhands. Each kind of field can be chosen individually from the existing types – so the player could basically end up with two grain fields, one livestock corral and one sheep pen or the player could just build four sheep pens. The gathered resources are added directly to the civilisation stockpile. If a homestead gets captured by an enemy civilisation a pre-determined amount of resources also gets lost from the player’s stockpile. There is one Research to limit such unfortunate events, but protecting the economy in general might prove more beneficial than relying on techs like that.

Marketplace
The Marketplace is among the most useful buildings in TLA – it does not only let the player sell his produced resources and goods and buy resources he lacks; it is also the base for any trade activities set by the player. Caravans are built and outfitted here (meaning loaded with goods and hopefully assigned some guards) and they can be set up with trade routes. The marketplace is also resource deposit center for any kind of depositable resource. It features researches and upgrades that will improve the general market value of traded resources and goods and it improves caravans speed- and capacity-wise as well.

Scout Tannery
This is the place where the hides of all animals from livestock and hunting game get tanned and crafted into useable leather goods. The player can assign some of his villagers into the Tannery (up to the buildings max. allowance) which will again have an influence on the productivity. Inside the Tannery the player can find various researches and upgrades that will benefit the productivity as well as grant a special armour bonus to select troops.

Mineshaft
Mineshafts in TLA are unlike mines in most other games of the same genre. In order to mine mineral deposits, the Edain first must find a deposit on the ground, identifiable by characteristic sparkles, rocks, metallic glints, etc. Then a Mineshaft can be built anywhere above that mineral formation. To actually begin the process of “mining” the player must assign some villagers to the mineshaft to work. Researches and upgrades can further improve the yield of the deposit and are available upon completion of the building.

Resources Gathered: Stone, Gold, Iron
