BACKGROUND

WFG started out as a modding team for Ensemble Studios’ Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings. In fact, this very project was initialised with the conception of it being a mod for Age of Kings (July 2001). The limitations of modding encouraged us to expand our skills to game development and we began to make the transition in early 2002.

Throughout 2002 and 2003, much of the development time was spent learning things the 'hard way' in design, code architecture, artistic methods, etc. It was only by the summer of 2003 that our hard work was beginning to pay off. From here on out, we have been working at full steam ahead to complete the project.

This endeavour is epic in proportions. The 0 A.D. staff is comprised of about 40 active members from countries all across the world; our ages and backgrounds are just as varied. The staff are very dedicated and strive to be as professional as possible in all that we accomplish.

GOALS

Our primary goal is to have fun and enjoy working on a game development project.

Secondly, we hope to develop new skills through practical experience. Many of us want to continue to work in the gaming industry, and having 0 A.D. on our résumés could give us that 'edge' over other applicants.

Our third goal is to put a face on the Internet based, independent game developers; to show that it's possible to create a complete, quality game with the proper talents, organisation, motivation, and teamwork!

Our fourth and final goal is to create a game that many of us have always wanted to play.

0 A.D. DEVELOPMENT TEAM

The Wildfire Games team is an assembly of individuals with a wide variance of locations, experience, skills, and personalities. Together, as a team, we have united to partake in an experience that very few have successfully completed.

There are many obstacles we must overcome if this game is to be completed: For our team, it will be an uphill battle. Though it will be difficult, I am sure we can rise to the challenge. Talent attracts talent, and we certainly have a lot of it. If we continue to surround ourselves with the best and the brightest we will surely maintain our potential for quality and excellence.
